1 Portal system is SHIT
+1 on this. I just made it to end game and maps, only to die in 2nd map to some heavy chaos dmg. My bad, but loosing the map without getting any new map just feels bad. I'm worried about not having any maps and it doesnt "feel" fun to know you only have one shot at it.

Nah it adds roguelite feeling. No blindly going in map and dying because "6 portals"... I like one death per map thing.
You still have 6 portals for loot if you want. I dislike rarity so much im almost quitting poe2. GGG.

" You are never using those 6 portals for loot, because this ARPG doesn't have loot. Which is another problem. This is simply bad game design, the least the devs could do is actually listen to the players that would stick around for leagues every 3 months instead of letting The Vision TM kill their game. |

They did this so elite POE players can really feel even better about thesmelves, especially those with HC mindset where they load "allowed" macro to escape death.
You can utilize your 6 portals by hitting ESC if you think you will die, and try again with no consequence. The game amazingly doesn't reset boss HP so it's obviously signaling to you "learn HC techniques". |

" Yep exactly. It's Pausecore now instead of Logoutcore in PoE 1. Amazing game design. Making your softcore playerbase suffer like this and play with such a harsh death penalty is the worst game design I've seen in a looong time. |

" and that's why this system of 1 portal sucks... we play softcore to play quietly, not to worry as if we were playing in extreme on a game where oneshots often come out of nowhere |

I like having just one portal |

Not liking the 1 portal design is not the same thing as saying 6 portal defense.
This game takes a lot longer to level up than poe2 and if you play 6 portal defense you would be stuck at lvl 75 forever. The one and done mechanic that we have right now just feels really annoying because early in maps the progression of map tiers is fairly slow. Whenever you die early on you can easily end up spending hours farming low tier maps to try and progress back up to your map tier. For some people that may be fun, but the psychological effect is the "spinning your wheels/wasting time" Also when you get to t15-16s and you find out that the citadels require a zillion maps to find then ripping maps feels that much worse. Now if you're dying to white mobs, sure you need to work on your build. When it comes to rare monsters though, they can easily have stacking modifiers that are devestating for melee builds and at the blink of an eye you can explode. Not having frostblink to get out of mechanics is a tragedy in this respect. You close the gap to the monster, they spawn 5-6 circles all around them, you dodge roll out and still are in the circles. Volatile plants are also toxic. Hit monster run away blow the purple up, hit monster once, repeat. not fun |

" Well many others don't. It will be changed or this game is just gonna lose soooo many players because of this trash game design. |

The one portal system adds nothing to the game but frustration and irritation. If PoE 2 has ambitions of being a game where player return, league after league, to spend hundred of hours farming (like we did in PoE 1), they need to revisit the ideas of:
1) One portal maps 2) HUGE layouts 3) Maze-like layouts Currently, the game is requiring too much attention to be a 1k hours+ game. It's a GREAT playthrough and a GREAT casual game where we return for a league here and there, dabbling a little bit in maps. But that is not what a lot of us are seeking. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
