XP loss makes me want to stop playing.

Some deaths are really annoying, desync, flicker-strike 1 shot kill unavoidable damage. But, I was not paying enough attention to notice I was killing myself on dmg reflect, well -- pay attention.

Without some sort of penalty for death, there is zero risk, and the whole concept of 'risk vs reward' goes out the window.

I do think that there are some other issues that need to be tweaked -- the game swung too far from favouring the glass cannon ages ago (avatar of fire fun times), to favouring path-of-life nodes now. I also think that the reward factor for playing in maps/levels at or above your level is out of whack.

It's kind of fun trying to crawl through a dungeon a few levels above you in Cruel or Merc, knowing that a miss step could kill you - but when the exp gain / loot gain for that effort blows, it just makes it far too easy to join a full party in ledge/fell/docks and steam-roll stuff for better exp and loot.

Keep it hard, keep the death penalty stiff - just make it worth trying to play hard.

I'm with the OP. 15% is a real kick in the pants. Should there be some penalty? Yes, just not something this extreme.

It also discourages a lot of builds for those of us who don't want to stack health.

If you play hc you die that is it out of the league and my buddy died at 79 today so what he does is delete and start again hc. So you want to tell me that you lost 1 level? Wow, just wow

And before you ask, no , i am not thinking i am special for playing hc. I just think that if the penalty upon death is small to none there would not be any thrill.

Second factor is the economy. A lot of people now are selling soft to hard currency.
What would happen if hundreds of low life low def. guys start running quantity gear(this is happening as we speak but at least they were careful until higher levels) flood the market and without even putting any effort into the game but just blazing trough?

Real life is hardcore-- you die---that is it
But games should be for us to relax right? Some are, not this one and hope it does not become.
Apart form obvious problems like lag syncing and stuff like this the game is fine.

Its like a comparing the death roller coaster and the under 3 years old joy ride. I for one want the thrill of being 5300 life away from starting again. Thank you for your time.

What exactly makes you think I'm butthurt? If someone bothers to Google my nickname with the aim to trash talk me, it's clear that his motivation stems from feeling insulted and by actually taking action out of this motivation he is being defensive. It's simple psychology.

Was farming docks yesterday.. trying to get 68 and last HP node before piety. Been farming docks 2-3 days from 59-67.

Go in..died in less 1 second to mp frenzy dog.

You know what did...remade character.. start over. You complain about 1 level...how about 67 levels. Stop whining...work out a better start so you don't die.

i just laugh about all you hc players who think they are something better.
i google a lot of forum names, its fun to see how they look in real life and which dating sides they use, like you :D

i dont feel insulted in any way. you dont even know if i play hc or not.
im mocking you and google gave my a solid result.

) Once you hit level 60 or so, just run City of Sarn/Docks up to level 75-80. Finish up your builds, collect currency, do not rush into maps. Do what the hardcore people do: play content that is much lower than you. Why? Because it works. It's not THAT bad of a grind until about level 75-80.

I must be one of the extremely few HC players who find overleveling really boring. I always went into zones at the most at an equal level, often times quite a bit under. Beat cruel at around 51, merciless at around 60, 62, solo EK witch. My gear isn't very fantastic either- only 4 links, EK damage is < 1000 dps tooltip. I'm now 67 from solely maps, poured only a very little currency into it (bought two maps when I got unlucky and got no drops), using only alts/trans/augs.

It's not hard. Takes a little bit longer than some, but it's pretty easy. You just have to use ALL of the tools available to you- skelly totem, multiple curses for the right situation, positioning, other defensive spells, etc. Mouse over EVERY rare mob, and immediately start hearing alarm bells if you see auras that are dangerous to you- reflect typically being the highest. Other ones can range from mildly annoying to potentially very dangerous.

Play smart. Use your tools. Know how desync works and play in the best way to minimize any mistakes or RNG that can occur. You'll eventually die, but that's the fun of HC. Die, do it again, make a better build, better gear, etc.

EDIT- to every HC player that things they're above SC players- get the fuck over yourself. There are a myriad of legit reasons people play default over HC. We play HC for our reasons, they play default for theirs. You're not better than them.

Not a very convincing way to talk yourself out of your obvious butthurt. You wouldn't bother to google or mock me if you didn't care. And I know that you are playing on softcore league, else I wouldn't assume you are butthurt :)
