can we please stop the power creep, already? (or better - reverse it)
@robmafia: since you are not answering my question, I will just assume that my initial instincts were correct and that you have invested thousands of hours into this game.
starting fresh in a league still leaves you with all the experience that is needed for making a solid, functioning build with the neccessary synergies while you also know how to maximize your farm value and be as efficient as possible. basically I am pretty sure you would be able to achieve the same stuff that I or some other casual do in 50 hours instead of 250 (just some random numbers, take them with a grain of salt). " no, I dont. but at the same time anyone who isnt deluding himself also doesnt want the game balanced around people like you, who have invested thousands of hours into this game. as usual, there is probably some middle ground, that makes the most sense. you claim that you can faceroll this game while watching netflix. it's fine, I believe you. others get shrekt by merveil or something. both you and the guy who failed in act 1 should be anything but the standard candle when it comes to deciding in what direction this game should be going. |

wow.
you actually do think the game should be balanced around those without game knowledge. [Removed by Support]

if by "those without game knowledge" you mean everyone who hasnt nerded the fug out of this game, then yes. that's what I'm saying. and we can all be reasonably confident, that ggg is thinking somewhere along these lines, because everything else makes zero sense, if you want to keep selling your product.
edit: so basically we have two choices here 1) make everything harder and balance it around the needs of people like robmafia, who have invested thousands of hours into this game. why? because then people like robmafia will have a nice challenge and enjoy the game and stuff. what happens to people who havent played this game since forever and who are less experienced? well, fug them to he.ll is what robmafia says and he cant be wrong, right? basically it would be immediate suicide for ggg 2) balance the game around the needs of the 14 year old uber casual who wants op items dropping nonstop so every single character build can work out easily without having to invest any time or thought into anything. again, this would be terrible and presumably cost ggg a lot of players, because why not play the much more polished diablo 3, if you are looking for instant gratification and casualization? the truth is: poe is far away from both 1) and 2) and that is a good thing. we need not worry, ggg is handling it pretty well as far as I can tell and they also seem to have more players and more revenue than ever before, which makes it highly improbable if not completely impossible for a position like described in 1) to become reality. " A saturated market is a negative thing. If you are playing a reasonable build and someone else is 1 tapping bosses, you will be unable to "out farm" the other person to make money on drops and they will saturate the market. I see this as a bad thing. Also, saturation of the market in itself is a bad thing. It makes the game too easy if 6L shavs are selling for 1c because there are 300 trillion of them on the market. Power creep is OBJECTIVELY a bad thing for the game's health. People in this thread arguing against this might not see that yet and may never, BUT it is still the case. Children think they want to eat candy all day because it tastes good. If they did, they would die at age 15 of a heart attack. This is OBJECTIVELY a bad thing. |

" just to make it clear: I am not argueing for power creep. why would I? I am argueing against the elitist and nonsensical position that robmafia and others are advocating. if they had their way, this game would immediately be catapulted into an extreme niche and basically be unplayable for the vast majority of us players. I know that people who have invested countless hours into this game and feel burned out and bored after so many years would obviously like that, but it doesnt change the fact that they are only a very tiny proportion of the playerbase as a whole and that it would be as braindead to totally cater to their needs as it would be to cater to the needs of the uber casual 14 year old child. " The irony of proving someones point AFTER they state it because you are too thick to understand them. Grogzor says,"again, I dont know what you are talking about. where exactly is this game competitive? is it pvp? nobody plays it. is it some races? I dont know exactly, I havent ever participated, but it seems those races are for the top 0.1% nerdiest of them all anyway. again, nothing of importance." Grogzor then claims that "this game is about grinding items and making your character stronger and then pwning the fug out of monsters. blah blah blah majority blah..." This is IMMEDIATELY following Head_Less saying "you have no idea of what old timers expect of GGG" Blows me away. Grogzor, you literally call the essence of what this game once was "nothing of importance." You fail to understand that this game was not made for you in its original state. Now it is being catered to your kind of person, probably for greeds sake. Old timer players have a right to be angry that the game is falling from grace. |

" This is so ironic considering how much 3rd party research the game already requires... " Swing and a miss. What most of us want is a proper difficulty scaling. Red maps SHOULD punish players for having shit builds with a million errors, but they don't. Hell, most of those builds can even run 8 mod maps with sextants and everything and not feel a slight bit of pressure. Monster power caps at 100 (excluding a few heavily rngated encounters) while player power breaks 1000 well before monster power even hits the cap. |

" I couldnt care less. I know you feel uber entitled, because you have played this game since forever and invested a billion hours into it. but the truth is: ggg is now more successful than they were back then. which should worry you. because it makes it very very very improbable that it will ever return to that prior state, which you miss so much. you have every right to miss the old version. I have every right to prefer the new version. very simple. " another absolute clown statement. take 10.000 random poe players. take out the ones who "dont feel the slightest bit of pressure while clearing 8 mod red maps" and tell me how many people remain. it's breathtaking how arrogant and selfish you guys are. absolutely breathtaking. |

lolz @ trying to argue the game should be balanced around the "average" player (only 1% even complete the uber lab, so "average" is... pretty terrible, barely plays/played, and doesn't even reach end-game [which is where the balance is] ) and then arguing about the people running sextant'd red maps.
ffs. my god, man. " AGAIN, what are you doing in this thread? it's about power creep. you apparently don't even know what power creep is and argue that most are unaware of it. if you're arguing on behalf of the willfully ignorant... WHY ARE YOU ARGUING? there can be no valid argument made in ignorance. edit: adding colors because repeated evasion. calm down mate. I can read between lines. I see what you write. I disagree with basically everything that comes from you and therefore I feel the need to state my opinion. If you think I am deviating so much from the original topic idea, report me to a mod to get me removed.
until then I will reply to whatever I want. |
