can we please stop the power creep, already? (or better - reverse it)
insert power creep upon power creep. for years.
insert ONE league mechanic that's halfway challenging. then nerf it then nerf it again then nerf it again then nerf it until amoebas can clear all content, deathless. so glad we have all that power creep. [Removed by Support]

In online games like this one power creep has to happen if they want too attract the masses, if they want their game too survive. You got to face the truth that people who want really tough games are in the minority. The MMO Wildstar tried with their "hardcore" raids and we know what happen too that game.
The best way is too play a challenging game is single player games or who mostly focus on that part like Dark souls. Don't expect a lot of online games are going to do really well if they focus on the "hardcore elite" only. Atleast let's hope they are not making an mobile game for this... seems to be the trend with lots of over greedy companies... |

" Funny part - Dark Souls isnt even so hard... You just cant turn it into a cakewalk, that's it. But there are far, FAR harder games... You know, i've got great experience with WoW in times, when it was kinda challenging online game. For example, when Blizzy introduced 4.0 patch. And i always hated when it turned into something too casual. I'm really puzzled, how could people continuously enjoy a game, that doesnt place fair challenge in from of them? IGN: MortalKombat

" The same how people who think games should be to be about just fun without thinking too hard about it. For them they find it odd that people look for challenges in a game instead of real life stuff. In short learn to understand that not all people play games how you or I see fit. I play my games on medium difficulty cause i don't want it be too easy but also not too hard. Maybe back then when i was younger i liked to challenge myself, like finishing Megamen 1 still feel some pride for that. But atleast for me once i got older i just want to mainly enjoy games without too much hazzle. But got too say even though reading a lot on this game I kinda like figuring some stuff out. Anyway I don't life in my own mindset that the games should be like that. Sure in my opinion when someone beats some challenging game content does not mean they are better then other people, which a lot of people have the delusional they do. But I can understand people who just like too challenge them self in a game. But if you have too look at the whole player base in the online gaming. Then it is a fact that the minority plays it for the challenge. And if companies want to grow then they can't just only look at the 10%/1% of the player base, That is why i think people should look for challenging games in single player games. Cause you most likely will only get disappointed if you suspect other wise from most online games. |

" Maybe instead of crying about the op builds of the season (which are good for new players), try playing a hard and creative build that you came up with yourself. Or is the lab too hard for you to run through with something cool? ^_^ |

You can make this game as easy OR bat shit insane hard as you damn well please. Thats kinda the whole point of the mapping system and rolling maps ect..
You can also make the game much much easier playing trade league or much much more difficult (Or time consuming imo) playing SSF.. The game should be able to attract people of all walks of life from the casual playing a couple hours a month/week to the HC POE fan playing multi hours to all day everyday. And because of not only the massive amount of leveling story content avaliable for new players to make their way through but also a massive endgame mapping system POE accomplishes this goal pretty well. As far as power creep and meta shit.. why on earth play shit you already know what its capable of? Why not explore shit no one else is playing? Not only is it cheaper typically its also alot more fun than just coping a build someone else has already done everything else. For me its all about exploring what everything else in the game has got for how much you invest in it. Thats what its all about for me anyway. Making builds the best i can on as little as i can get away with and still get the job done. The better you can play the game the more you can get away with.. less life more damage ect. But at the end of the day difficulty is there they just need to continue to add more endgame content to keep the bar raised right along with the extra power that has obviously been added the last year. Adding more power creep isn't as big of a deal as long as more content is at least added to move the goalpost along with the power levels. I fully expect more endgame shit to come this year without a doubt. There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation.
The former is Wisdom, the latter is Fear. |

I don't disagree that there's been far too much powercreep, especially in the form of gearing. I've said it before and will keep saying that shaper/elder gear was just a bad idea in the form it was implemented.
But I wanna point out that PoE does have a difficulty slider in the form of the build you play. Brands, Arc, Blade Vortex - these are easy mode in 3.5. So are simple defensive combos, like MoM + Acro/Phase Acro + leech. Add in autocasting or remote casting (built right into brands), and you're golden. Manual melee attacks with armour/regen (and not being Jugg) - now we're talking harder difficulty. Or try to do hybrid es/armour with 2h melee. *shudders* Totally viable of course, and ppl will be responding to me like "I did it and it's godly in this one specific way that I did it," but it's not easy or intuitive and it's certainly not cheap. IDK, I'd say if you can run 2h sweep build without picking OP defenses and it's yawn-inducing to beat everything and get rich then this game is just not for you anymore. I'd also say, however, that you shouldn't have to gimp yourself to not be falling asleep. So clearly there are some major issues here. We're all in this leaky boat together, people.
