Power creep or not the problem still is in the meta builds. I have 6k hours in PoE, never played a single meta build and i still not have killed any endgame bosses. More balance on under used skill / builds would be a good thing...

The defensive side of things doesn't feel like it has suffered power creep relative to current monster damage. It's the player dmg, dmg coverage, and player speed which is completely out of whack.

" disagreed. tremendously. even with the spell block nerf, tons of extra block mechanics were added both from uniques (ie: the surrender) and crafting options. many defensive abilities/keystones can be obtained from gear. ie: acrobatics/dodge full blown immunity from ailments (most notably, bleed and freeze) are now so easy they might as well be standard. and while it's not defense, ehp has increased substantially with higher tiers, new tiers (% max life), and new tiers (hybrid life + def). it's actually pretty easy to attain solid defense. player damage is what's most noticeable because it's generally what meta builds showcase. " All those "defensive buffs" dont even hold a candle to how offense & speed skyrocketed over time. Also, instant leech was removed, ES was severely nerfed - and those two were by far THE BEST defensive mechanics available in the game (well, besides damage immunity - but it's an abomination, that shouldnt even exist). I remember, how i've made CI BV Pathfinder with 16k ES and VP, who could permanently spam Vinktar even VS solo target + 4 other strong flasks. She could facetank almost everything the game could throw at her. And shr still had a large roon for gear improvement at that time, with really great gear and few extra levels, she could reack 20k+ ES. And what about now? Will she be able to facetank all shit? HELL, NO! NOT EVEN CLOSE! Yes, she might be able to blow full screens, if built properly, but she wont be able to facetank some tough shit she cant blow up instantly! Well, one thing is that the way defenses work in PoE beg for one-shot mechanics to exist which are no fun. It's not only that defenses are 'OP' or 'useless'. Say for example regen: you can stack a ridiculous amount of regen in this game. On top of that there are flasks which can pretty much be played like a piano at no cost. So, how does the game response to such layers of defense? By introducing one-shot mechanics or even if they were not mechanically speaking one-shot, pretty much practically they must be, otherwise no damage can ever kill a player in PoE.
