Realistically how bad are the counter attack gems going to be?

Ok i'll take the pathetic bait.

Realistic scenario with shockwave totem, lets say, for examples sake, you are playing a cycloner:

- You approach a pack
- You waste time casting the totem, if you even have mana for it.
- It hits a very small number of mobs due to no radius (you are melee), and it enfeebles them. Realistically it will hit 2 or 3 times before it dies, and you have 12% chance of actually blinding anything with each hit.
- Lets be GENEROUS, and assume you actually blind that small number of mobs you hit with this awful pathetic shockwave idea you had. Base duration of blind is FOUR seconds, keep that in mind, alright?
- So after casting the totem, you approach the pack, and start cycloning, but fuck, in that time, your totem is already dead, and the blind (assuming it actually blinded anything) wore off, but hey, theres still 5 mobs that are enfeebled, cool right?
- All of a sudden you realize the pack of mobs are actually desynced because of shockwave totem, and you have a harder time hitting them with a melee skill.
- You finally kill the pack, congratulations, go to the next to rinse and repeat.

God fucking damnit this sounds tedious as fuck, now lets compare with vengeance, with a realistic ~50% chance to block, alright?

- You approach a pack
- You hit them as usual, with full mana since you didnt waste it on a useless totem.
- Lets say its a pack of 20 mobs, 12 of them hit you, you block 6 attacks, proccing vengeance 6 times, since you are cycloning and on the move, the entire screen gets enfeebled, and since you vengeance 6 times, theres a good chance mobs will be blinded too.
- You did all this while still dishing out DPS, which obviously increases your clear speed tremendoulsy in comparison with your stupid troll shockwave idea.

Now the real question is why the FUCK would you u use shockwave totem over vengeance, granted you have a decent amount of block to proc it, i can't believe i actually have to explain this, you're even more fucking retarded than i thought.

Ugh ok so they are going to be nice , i dont think they are going to be completely shitty but they are not going to be what they could be , they are going to barely affect the disparity between melee and ranged .They are dumb non original mechanics , they will fit fine in PoE.
The only real problem i see is reflect, you do damage to reflect pack and then you do some more damage while taking damage from reflect pack <_< too much damage in one sentence for me.

Guess we will have to do IC the old way, without randomness of CWDT unless we can afford running two CWDT setups.
^ seriously though. Wait till you see the actual gems. I'm pretty certain that you wont find them as boring and disappointing as you do now.

They weren't nerfed in pvp just because they are bad

Yeah I was kinda annoyed that the shield nodes are melee damage and not just "physical", but I should still be able to make a fun build. I will try my best anyway! the melee damage will give me some more leech, at least. :)

I am not out to make the best build ever, but I am confident with the new nodes and gems I can have me some fun.
Typical, the gems are not in the game yet but the QQ is overwhelming. Also the regret about the QQ will be just as bad because oh my, the gems might actually be good.

Its callaed hype my dear. You are supposed to be happy about the patch coming, not see how everything coming with the patch works. Its like knowing hwat you get for christmas.

I don't think you realise just how long 4 seconds is, especially in game. If it takes you 4 seconds to kill a pack, even as melee, you've done something seriously wrong. I'd suggest you head over to the build forums and pick out a new, non-gimpy build for yourself.
