i wasn't even aware of the hidden cooldown on cast on damage taken. This furthers my opinion that CoC needs a much greater nerf. GGG must not have thought that people can crit as often as a cast on damage taken gem would go off, which is why they didn't make a hidden cooldown.

I do not PVP. If you want to know the basis for the argument please read my original post.
Its overpowered DPS wise, it is an incredible pain and strain on your eyes and processing power if you find yourself in a group with a CoCk build, common disconnects of party members no matter how good your internet connection might be (And with the portal limit for maps if you DC your screwed), and it obviously wasn't created with the thought of abuse that it has come to be known for. If you shoot 10 arrows, and all 10 crit, then all your cast on crit abilities get cast 10 times. Maybe the gem can be "Cast Supported Gems Every 20 Critical Strikes" That way, you shoot 10 arrows, 10 arrows, THEN your cast on crit abilities 1 time, 10 arrows, 10 arrows, THEN your cast on crit abilities 1 time. Alot more balanced and prevents the abuse of people that shoot thousands of times per second and have a 100% crit chance. Maybe This Could Actually Help The DeSync Issue! If all the CoCk players received a nerf, imagine the server power that GGG can save without millions and millions of calculations per player?! Standard League

There should be 1 cast per skill so multi arrows arent an issue anymore.
And every 20 crits? Thats too much of a nerf as it hits not only arrow users but melee single target users as well and they drop that gem in a second and its not being used at all. There has to be balance but what you suggest is a blatant over nerf because you play with people using this gem. It needs a nerf but not the way you think and playing with others is a matter of choice, you can choose not to party with CoC users as many dont party with dischargers or summoners. Also, they gotta make it work maybe with 1 spell per skill so its not so broken anymore as i saw people cast shitload of stuff on 1 skill crit. |

CoC has a bit of a hidden balance to it in how it kills people on Corrupting Blood/Thorns/Reflect. Was leveling a toon in hardcore, had a tanky temporary build with poor offense; created a party named like "To Piety ASAP! Bring your deeps" to rush things a little, and a guy joined with something like 5L or 6L Quill Rain and that stupidly powerful Arc/Fireball/Arctic Breath + GMP + Barrage setup. It was rather fun because I tanked well, and he delivered most of the kills. But at some point in Lunaris 3 we encountered a CB Nemesis. The guy with the bow got wrecked instantly, while I was barely affected.
I wish this largely remained the case in late endgame, because that's how I think abilities like this should be: very dangerous to wield. Unfortunately, it's piss-easy for an endgame player to get their resists to over 95% and your EHP pool to over 7k by then, so very few of those concerns actually remain, while the killing power grows exponentially. The nerf to CWDT as it is now has been very effective and proper: you either trigger small/short/inefficient effects a lot, or expensive/long/efficient ones once in a while, so there's a very definite trade-off that requires a lot of thought on player's part. CoC should have the same sort of balance which I feel it currently lacks. <Tyrfalger> Exactly, the next act is going outside Sarn and into those wheat fields (see the map) to become a farmer. Then we can spend our days endlessly farming. Wait a minute...

CoC has plenty of counters: Reflect, Corrupting Blood, Lightning Thorns.
Most people use CoC because self-cast is horribly broken. Fix self-cast and you won't see so many people using CoC. Also, disconnects are a Discharge issues, not a CoC issue. Get a better video card. |
