In two weeks PoE will have less STEAM players than at the end of last leagues
imho, ppl owned by dsync and leave this game. (sorry 4 my bad english)
- PoE 2 and PoE 1 are seperate games but PoE 2 will not impact PoE 1 development
- Ruthless was just a side project - We will devote resources to continue developing PoE 1 |

" We keep going around and around and around on the same issues. If the above is desired by many then the hardcore such as Jayburner think that PoE would be mediorcre and wouldn't be the hardcore PoE that they like. If PoE continues to be super hardcore then millions of arpg players won't play it because the rewards for time played aren't enough. It's either one or the other. But why only black or white PoE play style choices? What's wrong (other than the fact that GGG has a tiny dev team so human resources are spread thin) with keeping PoE hardcore as it is right now and then adding more permanent leagues that appeal to a broader world of less than super hardcore arpg players that love PoE but don't like the too D3-ish grind forever for few rewards feel to it. Nothing wrong leaving the hardcore leagues as they are and adding one more pair of permanent leagues to satisfy the less than uber hardcore players. Except the core hardcore players are going to whine that GGG is caving in or that the economy of that kind of league with more or everything will be crap. Well, the core hardcore players should climb down out of their ivory towers and stop playing PoE with rose colored glasses on. Most of the posts on a new league for more of everything (except desync of course), more crafting gems, more higher quality gear, etc., and thus more fun for the not so uber hardcore players can be had if it is a completely new league that keeps the items found in great quantity from ever getting into the other leagues. Most players in favor of an SFL type of league are not wanting to trade anyway so that leagues economy is never going to be an issue. So GGG, make a new permanent league, set the drop rates for crafting orbs 10 times higher so we can self craft our gear, let us have more higher quality gear in the upper 50 levels, and keep the other leagues as they are now so the hardcore don't cry that you watered down PoE and ruined it. If that means we as not uber hardcore players can get a build into the 80s or 90s faster then that's just more fun for us. If the uber hardcore play in it and get a build to 100 fast then they should be severely chastised for playing in a league that is below their capabilities. Variety of playing styles is what most of us want and more leagues is the way to capture both ends of the arpg player spectrum. GGG is a business and we want them to be successful for many, many years so we can keep getting new content every 4 months and a whole new act every 9 to 12 months. Without a large enough player base GGG won't stay in business and then everyone loses. So keep the core hardcore players happy with leagues like Invasion, do more experimenting with leagues like Ambush, keep the base Standard and Hardcore leagues, and then add another permanent league with more of everything, and see how many lost players will come back to PoE. You might just be pleasantly surprised. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. I'm loving the game some far, i started a few weeks ago and honestly i've never seen something like this before, everything is really smart, best arpg ever. Now i also understand this game was not meant to be for casuals and i think that's why it doesn't have the diablo player base but honestly i don't care, really fun game.

" Yep. I count myself as being desperate for a D2-like game. I put up with desync, BS one-shot mechanics, gated content I'll never see, and no built-in easy trading because PoE is the only game in the last decade that is remotely similar to D2. As I continue playing I keep hoping PoE will become more solo friendly, and actually become a full blown ARPG, where with enough time played (actually playing, not trading) you will be able to find almost everything on your own and access all content in the game, content which although challenging, is balanced. I like challenge. I don't mind having to run away and regroup. But the one-shot mechanics, especially those that insta-gib you from off-screen. These need to go. And while I'm here I'd like to voice my current, biggest peeve. Atziri. I don't care how OP she is. I don't care about her one-shot Flameblast. What I do care about is, no matter what character I build, no matter gear I acquire, I'll never get to find out how my build or equipment setup will fair against her simply because no matter how much I farm, the fragments required to open the map don't drop, which is BS. This game is supposed to be an ARPG. Why isn't Atziri as accessible as Uber Tristram was in D2? To me D2 did it right. In D2, with a strong enough character you could farm the areas you needed to farm to acquire the components to open the map. To me PoE is doing it wrong. While you know where you need to farm to acquire the components to open the map, 1) the areas don't exist barring random chance, 2) there is no mechanic for targeting a specific fragment, and 3) other than Dusk fragments, the drop rates are completely ridiculous, to the point of not dropping at all. |

" Issues, yeah. Same old shit, you guys must have holes instead of letters c, d, e, n, s, and y on your keyboards. People quit because it is unbelievably complex for a new player without external help. I remember _my_ issues when I first tried the game. get wrecked in prison, who knew lightning res is important get blown up in upper, who knew fire res is important get destroyed in docks because dogs look like breathing cold damage except it is fire almost died in Necro quest first time I'm here because at some point I spoiled myself and watched how Kripp does the leveling till lowish maps (whole 8+ hours) and then I watched his self found Duelist until Merci Piety (another hours). Only then I somewhat understood the game. Then I did the same in new league and reached meeps, it was success. Without this external help, I dunno where I'd be. New witch gets Fireball gem. And them she gets LMP as drop. It is counter intuitive that Fireball as single target sohuld not be linked with LMP. But the gem dropped, must be good. You say players leave. Do you know how much they leave in other games? Can you compare? Does PoE differ from other games in this regard? Maybe it is natural phenomenon. You don't know shit. You type D-E-S-Y-N-C like a zombie. | |
" This argument is pointless, the paid supporters will defend their investment, while the others will chime in some truth. When POE went on Steam, it was very popular in the charts, The ones who are now claiming steam charts don't matter were all over it when the charts were through the roof. Suddenly, it's not indicative of the game's health? Of course Chris will say the numbers are fine. What are you expecting him to say? No, our numbers are dropping and we're not fine? That's bad business, even the most struggling businesses won't say they're doing poorly, what world do you live in, where a business openly admits their decline? They would lose supporters and donations if they were to admit that. That's like if I were to heavily invest in Riot Games and say League of Legends has the best, most respectful and friendliest community ever. Of course I'm gonna say that since I heavily invested in their project. The reason they went to steam is to increase exposure and income. If they were just happy with the results with it's core base, they would have not expanded. The fact is, steam is widely used in the PC gaming world, whether it's because of steam sales or exclusive steam titles, a large portion has it. |

Just keep going GGG and ignore the sheeple, the doomsayers and the crybabies. No game has a playerbase that stays the same forever. If they want to play games with the biggest playerbases I'm sure World of Warcraft and League of Legends will accomodate them nicely.
Meanwhile I'll enjoy good games, like this one, no matter what size the playerbase. If there are enough people to actually play the game, which is still the case for PoE easily, then how is it off your purse? Or are you not comfortable if you're not playing the most popular game around? If so, you have issues with self esteem and/or independence and making your own decisions. " Your post embodies my reaction to sheeple at forums ( be it almost any game these days really. ) Well done. |

" I love these kinds of posts. People are saying the playerbase is shrinking? Tell them it's not true and then direct them to go play a competitor's game instead. And these are the people who are supposedly supporting GGG on everything... |
