Like or not, I'm the real deal. The oh-so-pathetic game-based celebrity

All I see is someone who just happened to put a lot of money into a support pack, acting like he's above everyone else tbh. Don't even know why you would be a celebrity. Because you bought the most expensive support pack? So what does that make you, a dude who used a lot of cash on a game support pack and has now built his whole internet ( atleast I hope just the internet ) personality around that magnificent achievement.

It's as if you think you're above criticism, and you deny and counterargument everything said about you and to you. Newsflash, you're not. Any pseudointellectual gibberish counterarguments won't change this.

A lot of us have a lot of money, spending it on something hardly makes you special. You come across as this bragging heir, like a Paris Hilton of gaming, while you are surrounded by a lot of people who are also wealthy, but don't have the need to advertise it.

Even the actual gaming celebrities ( which again, I don't see you being even remotely ) that have an actual fanbase, that attend gaming/charity events, stream and such I find just useless aside from the charity bit. I probably have more money than you do. Am I now above you, your opinions and criticism, entitled to just dismiss anything you say?

If calling yourself a celebrity was just a joke, then nevermind. If it wasn't, give us all a break.

For someone calling someone out about for supposed gloating, you sure are doing a fine job of creating a pissing contest yourself.

Lets take stock of what counts here, Chay cares about the game, its creators and its future. He defends the good work that a TINY dev team has poured their hearts and souls and wallets into for years.

He doesn't take kindly to people pissing all over their work and rightly fucking so. He has a vested interest in the wellbeing of the games health and the dev's mental health. You think the devs like coming on their own forums and seeing rant after childish rant about their work. The old saying of "If you dont like it then simply dont play it" works well here.

But the kids and young adults of today take it upon themselves to bark and carry on like a bunch of little brats who think its their god damn right to tell anyone involved in making a game that they are doing it wrong.

How about some fucking praise to these guys that they created a fucking masterfull game with amazing depth on an in house engine with graphics that hold up to any other arpg by AAA studio funding. They then release fuck loads of free content and all they would ask is if you like it then to consider donating to the cause and your donation is appreciated with MORE free stuff.

Holy fuck ! People these days !

Anyone who has put in a large sum of money to make this game possible for me to play free, who didn't have to do it, gets my thanks.

Sorry I mean you're appealing to this 'jelly culture' of cheapskates who want to go to the strip joint for free, brag about their wealth, but never tip the dancers? You know what makes you?

If u got the money, put up, or shut up. You dont get to be a cheapskate AND bash people who aren't. You need a reality check.

No. This thread is now about DS2 and/or console peasants vs PC master race.

Yes, specially when the actual competition stands between:

Owning both consoles and PC(s) vs owning just a PC.

My post had nothing to do with GGG or Path of Exile respectively. It had to do with behaviour I see among wealthy people a lot, thankfully not everyone. I couldn't agree more that they are doing a great job and that the game is a masterpiece, especially when you take into account its humble beginnings. Don't know why you underlined that so much, as if I was saying otherwise ( or then you're just talking in general, while quoting me. )

Regarding the pissing contest, I haven't mentioned this detail about myself anywhere else on these forums ever before and really have no need to discuss it further as like I pointed out, being wealthy doesn't make you special asfar as I'm concerned. It was just needed to make a point this time. Almost none of the people I admire, would call my idols and hold in great value are not wealthy. I sometimes ask wealthy folk that if we strip you of your material achievements, what remains? People tend to build their persona around their special traits, be it wealth, even a disorder, or a special ability. And I find those people shallow. ( Example: Someone bringing up their OCD/wealth/ability to draw -in every discussion, all the time, continuously, as if they have an obsessive need to let everyone know and keep them updated. )

Incase you're referring to me, what makes you think I haven't put up money to some other cause, maybe even a better one than a videogame? By your logic, you can say nothing to me if you haven't invested in the same cause that I have. And that doesn't make any sense at all. I haven't gotten a supporter pack because there's nothing I really want from those but I've gotten ingame purchases, though. I can support without showing it via a title or an avatar ( I just hold no value in those, basically their purpose is to display the use of money to everyone on the forums, and I dislike that, even if it's for a good cause. ) I do however completely understand the idea behind it, I just don't fancy it for myself.

Putting up money doesn't earn you the right to act like you're above others, is what I believe you should've said. Why are people even arguing against treating everyone equally and resisting materialism and shallow values? Don't know.

They do deserve a little praise, considering how small and well received the game is but I wouldn't say the game is above criticism either. I mean if no one called them out on anything than how would they know what to fix (if they wanted to fix it at all but that's another story). Game's not going to improve and really take off if the community just takes it on the chin and goes "yeah this game is perfect, nothing needs to be done, just keep making free new stuff and we won't say anything ever!"

I haven't bought a supporter pack (or any purchase for that matter so sssh) but doesn't make one's opinion any less valid than someone who bought the 900 deal. Think there was a line in JFK about "why is when a prostitute a key witness she has to have bad eye sight?" which I was reminded of with all the "cheapskate" and non-payer talk. We're all here to make the game better whether you bought a 100 dollar pet or not :P

1. It's not his job to defend GGG anymore. He's free to defend it, we're free to criticize it.

2. He has poured a lot of money into the game, I would be defending Superman 64 if I was a big investor, too. Doesn't make it a good game, but it's difficult to see your money being squandered and lost because of a company dithering and dicking around with things like fireworks mtx and adding even more endgame content that the majority of players can't access.

3. The devs are big boys. If they can't handle criticism then shut down the forums. Btw, these criticisms are intended to improve the game, increase playerbase, and generate income. You think the devs don't need our advice, and then assign yourself forum rent-a-cop to save their poor widdle feelings?

4. This must be your first time on the internet if you get so worked up over feedback on a video game forum.

5. People who blindly defend something are just as bad as people who blindly trash it. Unfortunately for you, the criticisms of the game are far from "pissing" on great stuff just for fun. If you'd like to start some threads about how great the game is, then go for it. If you're fed up with threads with negative feedback then stop clicking on the fucking links.
