does GGG even ban RMTers

Dafuq happened here?

Someone claims... to continue progressing at end game without an obscene amount of time which few have, you are just about forced to interact with others, the point being, it is one way that RMT would affect people.

Whether there is truth in the 'RMT affecting' point, is irrelevant, the important part is 'forced to interact'.

Someone else calls BS on the 'forced to interact' part, and cite HC self found players at end game.

First person points out the caveat in the original claim, 'obscene hours'.

Then someone else comes in and claims BS, citing all the exalts they have made interacting with other people.

Like, WTF?
Casually casual.

I don't know, Charan, there's a second obvious RMT thread in the Shadow forum in 2 days' time - the tendency seems to be a bit alarming :)

I can't and won't comment on such speculation, because GGG certainly won't.
I meant more the history of rmt bot spam that used to dominate the public chats.

It could be a lot worse because it used to be.

Still, general query: typically, which of the two do the authorities focus their powers on -- those who buy drugs, or those who sell them?

And one must remember that GGG has far more limited resources than a dedicated police force.

You worded your post in a way that makes any answers unnecessary, they are obvious :) About the worse part - yeah, I wouldn't know about that cause I'm quite new here. I guess that's why I get impressed so easily when I see a RMT-er's thread, I'm just not used to it.
You have to be realistic about these things.

it seems like several persons are trying to sell out in hopes of selling to rmt before new leagues hit and prices fall back down. GGG could possibly monitor such accounts selling over 1 000 exalts worth of items for suspicious activity but thats probably a pipe dream.

That guy is just continuing with his normal methods. You should have seen him preying on noobs in domination with his trade chat crap. WTB YOUR USELESS ALTERATION ORBS WITH MY CHAOS!! 30:1!!

No, that ratio is not a typo. He got rich and bought up as many mirrors as he could and now he's trying to flip them for 5x+ what he has in em. What he's gonna do with the orbs remain to be seen but it's doubtful it's to gear up a character since if you look at them he spends very little time actually playing the content.

too bad ggg throws the concept of "neighbourhood watch" completely out the window with that stance on name-and-shame
I think GGG should delete illicit items wherever they happen to be upon confirming a bot or RMT account. This might affect plenty of legitimate players, but that's the point; when someone's botting actually affects you, you're going to actually care about whether other players are associated with botting or not. This will turn an army of players into agents of enforcement, encouraging reporting instead of simply keeping one's mouth shut.

Regardless of what they are doing, or attempting to do, they are failing miserably. Im just glad they are allowing the playerbase to see it for all its worth :)

How do you judge that they're failing miserably? I haven't seen any spambots in months. Gameplay bots get banned in the 100s daily and many rmt user have gotten banned. Many of those are what fund rmt sellers which is the main way you want to go against this.

I think you're being unrealistic in your expectations. If PoE was a game you had to pay for, there would be no rmt scene after all these countermeasures. You also need to judge based off other games. PoE devs have done far more with their limited resources compared to many AAA games.

I judge that they are failing miserably by how prevalent RMT is.

People buying a stack of exalts from an RMT site are far less harmful than the top tier players circulating several mirrors worth of items back and forth through d2jsp and crafting mirror worthy items for real money profit.

They put in a small start up fee, create a perfect item (which is easy thanks to the hilarious mistake of adding eternals) and literally just farm real money from mirror fees.

I could buy 200 ex as an investment and be profiting a week later, with practically no risk. Browse the forums, see for yourself.

I think the most ironic thing about the Eternal Orb was that it was based on the suggestion of a regular forumer... who also happened to be one of the most prominent SFL supporters at the time.

The intent — I kid you not — was to put crafting back in the hands of the common man.
