Now, if you play (and plan to keep playing) isolated from the rest of the playerbase, all fine, then RMT won't affect you. But take in mind, this is not how most people play and is not want GGG intended, as much as I hate trading instead of just killing stuff, unless you are willing to invest an unreal number of hours most people can't, if you want to keep building your character (and xp'ing) beyond act 3 merciless, you are pretty much forced to interact with other players. And so, RMT/FG will affect you, whether you admit it or not.

This is simply not true. First of all, there are players who are succesfully playing in endgame HC self-found. Of course, that is a very high standard. On a more reasonable note - a quick search in poe.xyz shows that standard is full of very decent items at very reasonable prices - gear that is more than enough to progress through endgame. Being a new player and therefore having very little skill or knowledge, I leveled 5-6 characters self-found, picked the one I liked the most, bought gear for a total worth of around 2 exalts (with chaos orbs accumulated without any particular effor to farm them) and I'm breezing through maps without issues. It might get tougher at lvl 72+ maps but I don't think it will be impossible, especially considering how easy it is this far.

I guess I'd say I was affected if I wanted top-notch, extremely good items, but they are not necessary to progress through endgame.

And, for the last time - I'm not saying that RMT is good or nothing should be done against it, I'm merely pointing out that it's unrealistic to expect the drastic changes that have been suggested in this thread or to treat PoE, and any aRPG or MMO for that matter, as a competitive game.

We need some change though. We want to see that GGG DOES seomthing. Saying that they will 'investigate' or that you should send an e-mail to their 'account investigation team' is not enough. They never take action when it is required.

There are a lot of things that would help fighting RMT:

1. Make a FORUM for reports, where multiple people can add evidence against certain players. That forum's threads could be kind of private (only people with a directlink can get to the topic) so it doesn't hurt the 'naming policy' too much.

2. Open the cases (when a player got banned for RMT) so everyone can read through the report and the ban decision. We want to see that you take action, we don't want to read a generic reply or 'Unfortunately policy prevents me from providing any details regarding their decision.' We want to KNOW if a player got banned and why. If people see the threads with banned people they might think twice before buying stuff for real money. I know of 2 players that got banned. TWO. And a third that got unbanned after half a day. And yet there are thousands of RMTers out here. And none of them gets banned, no matter how often they get reported.

3. Create some kind of RMT police. some people who actually PLAY the game and know the top tier players and know who might be RMTing. Those people would then check on their forum history etc. and then start a report against those players. I for example would do that for free. I know enough RMTers to fill a whole forum...

4. Go to the d2jsp or similar forums. Check on the threads there. some RMTers are even dumb enough to name their characters or shops there. Still they are not banned. Those forums are accessable for everyone, without an account. Just go there, note the name / shop ---> BAN! What's so hard about that!?

This looks like a list of great ideas. Nothing like the "let's completely destroy/change the whole economy to fight RMT" suggestions. Carry on :P

The rules clearly state any trade/service not being PoE item vs PoE item or a giveaway is considered as an illegal trade/service.

I'm talking about the 10 biggest rmt'ers in the server with thousands of exalts in their tabs, fully mirrored bis gear sets, and level 90+ chars. These players will always exist but their numbers can be made vastly lower by banning their high level rmt buddies. If youre telling me the very real risk of banning vs the non existent risk of banning does not discourage someone with a 95+ char, and 800 exalts worth of gear from rmting then I dont think we are playing the same game.

There were like 40 entries and there wasn't much action because there was only one persistant droptrade scammer and he got shamed with accountname.


Imo we should donate some RMTing streamers sugarless haribo gummybears.
Because if they eat 5 of them 1,5-2h later it will be the best entertainment ever and they won't be able to RMT for 24h ;D
