Lets discuss how easy it is to RMT in Path of Exile
" The ugly truth is that the game is designed well and with a little effort it can be changed to make it so that RMT really isn't necessary for ANYONE. From a design standpoint it can be done, and quite easily. But no, you cannot stop people from exploiting or botting or RMT on any ARPG only design the game with that idea in mind and make it hard/a waste of time to create an effective and efficient means to generate currency at a rate which will be profitable vs time spent on other games without as many barriers. Companies have been fighting this for 15+ years now and the developers always lose. There is a reason Blizzard went the RMAH path with D3 and even now they aren't able to keep up with the gold spammers. This is a fight that GGG simply cannot win, all they can do is slow it down a little bit.

if you make it harder for botters etc, you are making it EVEN HARDER for regular players.
sadly thats the ugly truth so you wont be able to hurt the RMTer badly without making it even worse for regular players. 2 sided coin that GGG wil lose either way. 1. you make it terrible or not worthy for RMTers, but then it will be terrible and not worthy for regular players. 2. you decide that its not worth losing tons of players to option 1. and basically continue to do what they do, Ban when they have concrete proof of RMT. (witch is never very effective in the end) |

Post Summary: QQ some accounts were made before RMT level wall was put in place.
You accept the point that they will run out of pre-nerf accounts eventually, but then continue to go on as if just because the number is higher than you listed that it somehow changes the fact that they will, in fact, run out and it will be more effective when they do. |

only way to prevent and/or avoid RMT is to have a self/party found league.

" You can do it, people just don't think outside the box. I sent an e-mail in about working with them on anti-RMT balancing. The problem with the game itself and RMT is the ease of currency, which can't be changed really. Any crap bot can farm normal ledge and get 1-2 exalts a day from alterations alone. I love the crafting system, but it does pose a problem with dealing with RMT. You can't get rid of RMT, but you can make botting the game in the most efficient manner much more difficult. ---- Let's be honest here... if the games REALLY takes off, there will be much more problems than just people botting currency. And if it does have a very very large following then no, you can't stop RMT no matter what, but only make it harder at that point and make the time investment or equipment allotment not worth it in comparison to other games. " Why would a RMT company or an individual even use bots of any kind, when it's so much easier to simply play the market all day long? When you reach a certain threshold of in-game capital, you can generate more orbs out of "nowhere" (which of course means out of the work of actual poor/middle-class players you're trading with), just like in real life. And the more you accumulate, the faster it gets. |

" It's not a moot point. The title and topic of this thread is rmt. While neither rmt or cross game trading are allowed, they aren't the same thing. The vast majority of people on jsp would never pay real money for fg, it's a cross game trading issue. It's also different because there's no real incentive for jsp users to bot. Anything they make out of it would be pretty much worthless in real terms. It's a separate and less pressing issue. |
