Rebirth your character! (prestige mode)

upon reaching a certain level, in our model for example at lvl 80 or above

people get the chance to reborn their character

reborn characters lose their progress, e.g. their level
and restart at level 1 at the starting area

equipment they are wearing during reborn, will still be equipt after reborn, but just simply turned red, since the reborn character probably do not meet the requirement
once unequipped the character has to meet the requirement again in order to wear it. typically that would be the case after reaching his old level.

depending on the level the char got reborn he will receive certain rewards, in our model if reborned at level 80 he gets to get 10 additional skillpoints right at level 1
for each level more after level 80 where the char gets reborned, he will receive 1 additional skillpoint to the 10 bonus

in addition to that, reborn characters get small bonuses after lvling up, in our model it would be 5 extra stat points per lvl up

those statpoints can be manually allocated into strength/intelligence/dexterity/life/mana


furthermore reborned characters receive a permanent skill, which is summoning a divine guardian, a companion or pet with an awesome modell (depending on the class, its either an angel/demon/elemental/viking-god/soul)

I personally like this idea. The only problem would be the major balance issues for people who are like a prestige 5 or something. They would be way too powerful and for say pvp it would be a huge advantage with all the extra skill points. But I do like the companion idea as long as it does not give any extra advantages like fighting for you. While I like the idea it will not happen at least the way that you state, it would just be too powerful.
this would have to be vanity extras only.

i would never do it but i know alot of people who would.

Funnily enough, this wouldn't improve the game. It would break it, a LOT.

its all a question of balancement... i hate that word but you know what i mean..

it would give people incentives to keep playing/lvling

and what would be wrong to grant people who ve spent a lot of time developing their characters, alot of power?

its all about fun and not balance

read recent interview with erich schaefer about his pointn of view about balance <-> fun
