Softcore Vs. Hardcore. Can we put it to rest?

I have a dream that one day out in the forums of Path of Exile the sons of former HC trolls and the sons of former SC trolls will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

In all seriousness it's a silly argument. There will always be bigots, whether they are bigoted about silly things like game modes in a video game or real issues like race and religion.

Actually he would have a better of chance of survival than you would. He would be smashing through zombies, while your favorite streamer convinces you to take them on blindfolded and equipped with a butter knife with absolutely nothing extra to gain, because it's "hardcore".

I think some HC players should have separate league KC - KrippCore.

Anyway, during my brief encounter with HC I actually met some nice players, very helpfull to newbie like myself. People playing this mode of the game just because they like it, not because they feel like elite. There are always few that will be pricks though, no matter the league. Am I offended when someone calls me scrubcore noob? Nah, I play and enjoy the game and that is basically what matters the most to me. Peace folks!

There will always be the vocal forum members who give the SC players grief, but who cares? As long as you enjoy playing the game the way you want it doesnt really matter what some random internet person thinks!

I have only ever played HC on Torchlight 2. It is definitely a different experience to SC mode. It is such a rush to see your life bar dip below 10%, and then miraculously survive the encounter through skill / luck / running away :-D

I intend to play HC mode on PoE, but I want to play the game through to maps a couple of times first, so I know what to expect.

lmao this idea of "softcore vs hardcore" ONLY exists on the forums. all of you are the biggest whiniest bunch of babies that has ever existed, and has continued to exist, in the gaming community. literally every single forum for a game is just infested with the whiniest most dramatic people of all time. it's pathetic.

Pretty much.

If a free to play game typically draws the lowest common denominator of the gaming world, then its forum is going to be inevitably one huge crap-magnet IF the typical purpose of any fora is to give the vocal minority a place to cry and whinge.

But that's just one aspect of the forum -- because a f2p typically relies on its forum to deliver official announcements, store resources, facilitate trade and discuss game mechanics. And that all happens here too.

I actually like threads like this because they're well signposted as troll-havens and can be treated like storms in teacups. :)

This whole discussion is a result of premature pubertal teens having a blast at calling PLAYERS this or that because of the individuals sence of belonging within that group..
Play whatever you want to play, this isn't a contest.
If a players skill is measured on the amount of deaths that player experiences, then i don't really see the point of playing the game..i can just stay in town and don't die..since that's what matters. I play it the way I find it enjoyable...you go do the same instead of ranting and we'll all be just fine.
