Softcore Vs. Hardcore. Can we put it to rest?

In my opinion, Softcore is usually for people who like to casually play and enjoy the game. I play on softcore just because I have a fulltime job and dont want to have to remake a character that already had 40+ hours in it when that character dies. Hardcore are for those who enjoy the challenge of not dying. You all seem to have extra time to put into the game while not dying and trying to survive. If you do happen to die, then you reroll.

Why do HC players need to bash on SC? If you play Hardcore and you die, you should be happy. Because at that point you learn what not to do the next time you play. Don't compare hardcore to softcore, it's pretty much 2 different game-types with different play-styles.

Inb4 Cutthroat better than all leagues GG

80's and 90's gaming was very fun and a happy experience. After many years of gaming and innovation, the only thing the gaming industry has bred was trolls and a dickish horde of bad attitude players. What ever happened to the gamer's respect for one another? Have we really fallen that far as a society?
RNG is RNG.
I dont play on SC because it would be more "casual", i play because i dont want to die for reasons like desync or some other reason that is not my fault, and then reroll after i die, when dont actually even lose my character. And if i wanted to play on hardcore, i would play on hardcore. For me hardcore is hardcore only if you lose your character when you die.
My best char so far https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1211377

Some feel that when you go from HC to SC when you die is just the same as losing everything.

I play HC but I definitely don't feel superior to a SC player in any way. I also have a full time job and a family and only come on to play a few hours per night... lvl 73 atm and still trying plan the best way to attempt Merc. Piety (I only play solo for progression content)

HC isn't about how much time someone plays, it's about setting a game atmosphere. People drawn to PoE hardcore are especially spirited about the league because GGG has made a game that caters to them so well. Other than desync, if someone is cautious, has decent gear/spec, and understands the mechanics of different monsters and bosses PoE is a fairly balanced game.

When I come home from a long stressful day at work, nothing makes me forget about the world more than freaking out if my life dips below 30%. The atmosphere, the panic, the challenge, the rewards and recognition from the community from playing a less compromising game mode... if HC players don't put themselves on a little bit of a pedestal for achieving what they can without dying then PoE gets boring much more quickly.

Just remember that not everyone is a jerk, and that those ppl are usually louder than others.

Thank you for an honest post. I do know that those who flame SC can't speak for the whole HC community. I just wish this divide would stop.

Also props on making it to 74, must've been some long ass trek xD
Again, here we go.

Op : I have full time job so I can't play hardcore.

???

I don't have much time to play but I play HC. Why?

Because I find it more fun, and that's the goal of the game.

Just for your information. All the time you put in your softcore toon is also lost...Just not now.

Edit : In fact, I just finished reading Raeiz post and could of just posted his text with a +1. Well said.
