Less RNG in Socket Crafting Please!
While I do wish that some orbs would drop more often (alchs and fusings in particular), I quite like GGG RNG-crafting. It was that and the passive skill tree which convinced me to become a supporter in CB.
It would really, really undermine my fun if you could slowly but steadily work your way towards the perfect gear set and be guaranteed to get it eventually. I'd probably stop playing if that were true. The chase is where it's at. In a very grind heavy game the death penalty equates to...more grinding.

Yeah. It needs less RNG, but not zero.

" Having socket links in gear is a unique concept for PoE, but having active skills in them is not its selling point. Its selling point is passive skill tree, you know the one without RNG. Also that the game does not cater to casual gamers that D3 did. |

I only read the first few pages, but I'd like to add in my two cents...
First off, I completely agree in general. After spending hundreds of jewelers so far, my armor is still sitting in the bank with one socket. And by hundreds, I mean probably 250+ at this point. Now, Jeweler's Orbs are relatively easy to come by, but even so, I'm already a few Exalted Orbs in on this one armor, and this is the easy part. Next up, I have to LINK them, which from what I hear, can take 1,000+ fusing orbs. Let me just say, hardcore game or not, that is totally stupid. Honestly, I'm slowly beginning to play this game less and less. I get pretty absorbed into ARPGs, having played Diablo 2 for literally thousands of hours over quite a few years, and never did I feel like I was just wasting my time. In PoE, after a certain point, you really do begin to feel like your time is wasted. I'm level 78 now, and the experience has basically totally fallen off. My gear is quite decent, not totally end-game, but I can faceroll any area and any maps up through 68-69. I don't play in maps higher because I don't have the orbs to spend on rolling them. I'm spending them all on trying to 6L one piece of armor. And for what? I'll gain *maybe* 500 dps that I don't even need. It's more for the flexibility and fun of having a 6L. The cost totally outweighs the actual benefit. So why not make it easier to obtain? Because it will affect the trade market? I had no idea this was a trading simulator - maybe Diablo 3 totally had the right idea and is trailblazing for all ARPGs. Honestly, this game could really do with being a little more solo player friendly. I don't want a casual experience, but why is a 6L impossible to get? It's not like they are totally overpowered. Everyone has stated that you can easily play with 4L gear, so what is the big deal in allowing people to get those 6L items that would make the game more fun and flexible? I really don't want the game to be easy mode, but this is a feedback forum, and a lot of us feel the same way. I could play for 50 hours this week, and I might, and if I spend all of my orbs on trying to 6L my armor I probably won't have it yet. I don't know what ARPGs you guys played, but I bet you made some sort of worthwhile progression in 50 hours. In this game, it gets to a point where you can easily make no progress in that time frame. Anyways, I'll stop there. TL;DR version: The benefits gained are so much lower than the cost. 6L is more for flexibility and fun than actual function - as such, I feel it should be easier to obtain. Stop worrying about the market simulator affects and more about what is fun. Fun is what keeps your paying customers around. (Like me.) " No one is saying perfect gear should be guaranteed. Six sockets however, that's a different story. Abilities need different rules from plane old stats. |

almost pointless to waste orbs when your almost 90% of the time come out with a worse craft. fuse is good, chromatic is perfect, its just insanely hard to get anything over 4 sockets when using jew orbs .
