POE end game : spending 10+ mins trying to buy a map

Agree with auction house system like in any regular mmo, would solve a lot of problems with trading.
If you're still wondering "why", I can tell you.

I've been farming to 98 in eldered T16s. I've probably sold 30 or 40ex worth of maps since the start of the league. White ones in bulk, 1-2c for yellows, 2-20c for red ones. Worth it except maybe for some yellows when there was no bulk buyers as it was my main income.

Sometimes I was selling like 10 maps per map... After like 2 weeks in the league I put all my tiers for sale and I spent 3h doing only sales, like 15 whisps per minute for 3 hours... I would usually put only part of my stash for sale at a time to be able to still map.

1) it's a pain in the ass, really makes mapping less enjoyable, but hey who would pass on 40ex just to dump useless maps you're never gonna run?

2) sometimes you just can't answer cause you're in a breach or abyss, didn't want to install mercury trade just for that

3) sometimes I was doing a zana, double the portals, double the pain

4) sometimes I was doing monstrous treasure where I had to keep lots of portals for the loot

5) sometimes I had 30mn left of play and 10% before the next level and didn't want to bother with sales

6) sometimes I was just not in the mood, and if you try to unlist the whole map tab it usually crashes when you have all map/tiers setup. I started rerolling 2 days ago I was just fuck it 2c trade not gonna bother.

And then there was the "I want the yellow one", the "1s, found another one... while you lose 1mn in hideout", the guys who play on potato and take a 30s just to appear.

I was happy when I had someone tell me "hey do you also have this and this and this?" or "i take all your volcanos", but that's not the majority.

All in all, there's no market manipulation, it's not an easy task for the seller either.

So you want to buy maps easily? There's only 1 solution. Ask for GGG to implement an auction house whenever you can and answer "fuck you" everytime someone tells "but player interaction????".

And add a lot of problems too.

Just remove the need to buy maps. Maps don't HAVE to be a "rarity" or even a commodity. They are actual content to play and shouldn't be rare at all, especially mid level ones. Making actual content rare, is - in my eyes - bad game design. Artificially prolong the game by making actual playable content a chore to acquire? Please. There are other ways of making "special encounters" rare than to make maps themselves rare.

Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

It's better if they are rare...

Makes uber elder and shaper more rare and more worth farming.
Makes sextant more worth it. Makes controling influence more worth it.
Makes running high tier maps more worth it.

If you don't want a game where everybody plays windripper in tier 3 maps it's necessary. It gives a reason to drop 20ex on gear to be able to handle more things.

If the best strat is just to put cheap mf items on all characters, and run low tier maps, what's the point to the 200 other uniques, crafting endgame rares, and all the atlas mechanics? None.

We've seen it in harbinger, there were just as much complaints.

I believe auction house will solve more issues than it will create. There are obvious issues with the trade system, people should stop saying an AH will be the end of wraeclast without concrete reasons.

Nope nope and nope.
Repeating it again, i'm not responsible of the trading system, and GGG won't ever accept any suggestions to improve it.

If you are available that's cool, if not it's not my concern and i'm sorry about it really, but that's the GGG design i just play it as they want us to play it that's their design.

Not anymore this kind and naive buyer willing to wait 30 sec after each message, this period is over since a long time, i value my time enough to spend it ingame and out of indexers the more i can, i don't see what's wrong with that. You will end to do the same thing at some point and notice by yourself how more efficient it is :)

true, ggg is responsible for bad trading system, but youre responsible for your bad behaviour. whispering 10 ppl at the same time and ignoring the 9 who not answer in 2 seconds while crying about sellers who are not answering you. youre the worst, its just stupid

I don't add them to ignore list, i just take the trade of the first one answering. That's not a bad behavior ( Nothing in GGG policy is against that and by design it's even encouraged, remember trading must be hard ).

Just found a smart way to save a lot of playtime on a daily basis - nothing wrong with that, of course i would like to see something more efficient and user friendly but GGG has been clear it won't happen, soooo i'm sorry but i won't change.
Trading became really heavy along the years, at the end and depending of your goals in a league it can really fast go over 20% of your total playtime.

Simple maths, imagine you wait 20 seconds after sending each messages and get your maps after contacting 15 sellers ( common case ). You just spent 5 minutes to get one single map.
Mean you spent MORE time buying the map than the time it take to actualy RUN the map.
Such a wonderful design. Just think about it and how much time it represent on a whole league, i'm not in that boat anymore - Economy struggling is good for the game, aslong the struggle doesn't overlap the time spent INGAME.
Hf :)

Do most people just disable the auto afk system or something? I regularly spend 10+ minutes trying to buy a map becuase almost nobody responds to whispers.

Even for maps that cost 15+ chaos they dont bother to reply. Not even a simple "hold on" or "im in lab/etc".

Reasons why they don't respond:

1)They already got a bunch of exactly the same requests and won't care anymore
2)They are running lab or are midst in a hefty fight (bosses, unique mobs, etc)
3)Human nature reasons, dropping a "bomb" / creating a "waterfall"

Best strat?

What's the point of everything you list when you can buy everything with one button on an AH, after doing chaos recipe for a couple of days? More people will trade if there's an AH. More items WILL hit the market. Prices of everything but GG items WILL drop. Acquiring gear WILL be easier. GGG have been pretty clear on this, therefore, they've also been pretty clear about the fact that they have to adjust the droprates of pretty much everything if they decide to add an AH.

And if trading wasn't the only way to go before, it WILL be with an AH.

And as I said, there's other ways of making elder/shaper/whatever rare without limiting them through map drops. But you ignored that. 43 maps this league. 43 consecutive rare maps without an upgrade. New personal record. Fantastic gameplay. And we're not even talking high tier maps.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

What kind of problems would auction house add? We could buy same stuff as we can now, only in easier and more pleasant way.

Except bots and rmt gonna buy everything and put them back up with ridiculous price.

You really think you alone can win against an army of gold seller and bots?

Each game have bots like this... each game have problems to fix... we cant expect perfect game. We just need to trust GGG and hope that they will do everything to fix and make game even better.
