Are there any other games which gate content behind RNG like PoE?

EvE online

the vast majority of EvE players will never be exposed to much of it's content. Then thares the meta content that can be even more difficult to break into.

Most players will never lead a fleet larger than 50 people , even less lead one larger than 150. You can probley count the amount of players on your fingers and toes that have experienced planing and executing a large scale colition sized conflict.

Jumping a titan into a enemey fleet to start a large fight is a feeling you can not get in any other game , ANY other game , not even close.
Just a sec let me grab a beer...@#*@ Ok how did I die this time

Learn the rules, it's the only way to exploit them.
Any time you enter a portal there should be a 40% chance you end up back on the beach, naked, level 1.
Never underestimate what the mod community can do for PoE if you sell an offline client.
It gets old. I get tired of spending so much time on poe trade. I get tired of putting trash rares in my stash to pump out chaos recipes. Its slow and boring.

I do enjoy this game, and come back from time to time. Played off and on since CB. Atm, I'm pretty much capped out on my IS ranger in the new league. Crafted a bow, 6l an armor, grinding trash maps all day hoping for higher maps.

I hate to say I'm pretty much just killing time until League servers move to Chicago and my ping goes from 120 to 30.

IMO, they really need a built-in trade system, and a better map system. Stop gating maps by RNG and gate them by difficulty. I can pretty much plow whatever I can get my hands on, if I could just get my hands on it. I find it far more frustrating to be able to do it, but not be able to get it, then be able to get it, but not do it. Its just more frustrating.

EVE Online is a whole lot of fun!
It is also VERY complex, you have to learn a lot and it takes a long time to even be able to fly a titan not to mention fighting with it.

But i never ever had the feeling that anything in it was gated behind rng.

I stopped playing it because i didnt want to rely on other people, being online at certain times, getting up at night maybe. I wanted a complex game where i can have interaction with others when I want to and if i choose to go offline, i can do so without someone else beeing disappointed.

in POE i can have that, excep trading which this game is built around.

NOTE: i usually trade a lot in games, i like it to some point. i could easily buy plex in eve after the first few months of play, i made quite a lot of money in wow.
i tried to set up a shop a league back as i found some good drops while leveling. but the system sucks and i soon got the feeling i need to play the trade sim more than the game. now i couldnt be arsed to set up a shop again.
Grim Dawn skill diversity and crafting system is so much better than PoE.

any other MMO games that want keep players in game and give players goals to complete

is that our enemies are human beings like us. They can only be our enemies in relative terms."

Which is fucking sad, when you consider how batshit bad Grim "Yawn" actually is.

CAN ANYONE FROM GGG JUST FUCKING ANSWER TO THIS ISSUE? Literally NOBODY likes shit RNG, yet it's kept in the fucking game.

I absolutely hate it when you can experience all content in a game just by learning and mastering the game mechanics. [...]

Really? I mean: really? Isn't that the greatest thing when a game needs to be mastered to reach it's highest and hardest content??

I never got why a lucky one only needs four tries to get to the hardest content (even when not skilled at all or even pulled through content by a service), while a true master of the game may need 100 tries just because of rng. especially when content is gated behind costly RNG.

And yes, there are. Maybe nearly every asian ARPG out there. Have fun ;)

I might not be an expert, but I think you're baiting each others right now.

But really, I'm surprised GGG haven't done anything about this, players leave the new leagues already a month or two in because they get drained out, nothing worthful is dropping and they need to chaos-recipe for weeks maybe to get a chance to get some niche build-enabling unique that they truly want to build around, and now they need to both socket and link it.
Now that I think about it, this game really is a disaster and it's unreal that there's not a better one (WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL THE DIABLO FRANCHISE)

Having read this post, I guess I'm glad I never bothered with the new expansion. I could deal with never having a meaningful cutthroat mode, but finding the same unique items over and over again and senseless grinding finally pushed me away for good.

Still looking for that fabled successor to Diablo 2...

You should read my little rant then, however there's some dedicated item-flipper defending the horrendous droprates for some reason: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1394588

I just want GGG to finally give us some answers, I'm just sick and tired of being drained of ALL my currencies, to not even get an upgrade, or a 5L that I can replace my 4L with.
All I get is people with their shitty replies; "Should have just BOUGHT one on the market ;^)"
Not everybody wants to fucking trade, it's a shitty design that RNG decides who is rich and who gets to be the Chaos farmers.

Just play something like SRS you wont have a boss problem:P

That kind of defeats the point we're trying to make, forcing players to do generic builds to be able to progress through the game is just a bad design overall and should be looked into.
I don't know with everybody else, but playing since Open Beta, I'm a bit tired of playing the same kind of builds as my first char in a fresh league, I'd like to take advantage of this "build diversity" that GGG says PoE delivers, but it's just gated behind an RNG-wall which is only accessible to the 1% most of the time.

Those "generic" builds you see are really the popular ones. There are some really cool builds that work if you just take the time to look. For example: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1359178.
Try this build if you want a hybrid thats toatally different but you probably dont have the stones cause your in the "generic" build mindset. Its up to you to create something new and not "generic" and then maybe if its a well-rounded build, people will start to copy you which is a success. And no one is forcing you to play these builds. You only play them cause right now theyve been figured out and are quite efficient. Grow a pair and think outside the box.
