Are there any other games which gate content behind RNG like PoE?

I absolutely hate it when you can experience all content in a game just by learning and mastering the game mechanics. There should be more games where the developers create content and then only make it available to a tiny minority of the playerbase.

The concept of Uber-atziri is perfect. There are 3 layers of RNG (finding a corrupt zone, get all 4 sac pieces to drop, kill normal atziri for all 4 mortal pieces) just to get 6 attempts at killing her.

Are there any more games like this out there?
Any MMO or game that requires you to do anything to unlock a boss/area.

I mean the uber-aztiri is literally just a rip off of the keys quests/farming organs into spawning for uber trist from D2.

If they didn't "rng gate" people would crash the value of her items so much, or have to make it where her unquies have a shitty drop rate.

Really? I mean: really? Isn't that the greatest thing when a game needs to be mastered to reach it's highest and hardest content??

I never got why a lucky one only needs four tries to get to the hardest content (even when not skilled at all or even pulled through content by a service), while a true master of the game may need 100 tries just because of rng. especially when content is gated behind costly RNG.

And yes, there are. Maybe nearly every asian ARPG out there. Have fun ;)

I might not be an expert, but I think you're baiting each others right now.

But really, I'm surprised GGG haven't done anything about this, players leave the new leagues already a month or two in because they get drained out, nothing worthful is dropping and they need to chaos-recipe for weeks maybe to get a chance to get some niche build-enabling unique that they truly want to build around, and now they need to both socket and link it.
Now that I think about it, this game really is a disaster and it's unreal that there's not a better one (WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL THE DIABLO FRANCHISE)

OR - you know, the boss could be so hard to kill that only dedicated players would attempt. No RNG gate required.

However, for some reason, they love level 90 characters zipping through 68 areas in vaning hopes of finding fragments to try and find - another layer of fragments.
I never played one its the most retarded thing ever to make players do content to easy for them 90% of the time. I hate this end game. It's prolly why ladders are like dead after a month or two you're all dressed up with no place to go.

D3 does it right. Infinite difficulty in rifts only gating is ability/gear. Shame I dont like the rest of the game.:(

This is the sad truth.
Many people hate D3, so do I.
But it did one thing right, infinite difficulty, last difficulty is basically all is max level and you farm wherever, together with gear drop is more likely something for your fucking level (can we please remove Araku Tiki from high end maps already?)

Sadly the game is oversimplified and is more of an Arcade-Hack 'N Slash than an actual ARPG.

Only one problem here.
We're already skipping most map-bosses, they're overtuned in term of you getting spammed down rapidly fast without a chance to react to the shit.

That kind of defeats the point we're trying to make, forcing players to do generic builds to be able to progress through the game is just a bad design overall and should be looked into.
I don't know with everybody else, but playing since Open Beta, I'm a bit tired of playing the same kind of builds as my first char in a fresh league, I'd like to take advantage of this "build diversity" that GGG says PoE delivers, but it's just gated behind an RNG-wall which is only accessible to the 1% most of the time.

To answer your question though, any random based item game gates content behind RNG, since you first have to acquire the gear threshold to complete the encounter.

Depending on how impact-full the item progression is, the "gating" will increase.
