you nerfed the piss out of mana regen

Last time they made life changes they nerfed life by 25% and monster damage an average of 30%. It was hardly unplayable, it was just less powerful than CI.

Huge difference.

So right now I'm given a choice to either focus on mana reduction or compensate with +mana and regen gear so I can apply the passives to something else.

Maybe you don't see the issue because you are not that familiar with such a mana hungry build? It's an uncommon build that had nothing to do with snapshotting, no crit, nothing to do with the holy trinity (shavs, coe, pa), and nothing to do with arc, so why it got screwed (again premature assumption) is anyone's guess.

Moving forward it looks like I'm not given a choice. I'll have to take those reduction passives unless as you and I both mentioned, they update the skill costs accordingly.

Using a mana hungry build is supposed to be challenging, look at the gear I had to use to sustain frenzy.

Spoiler

That's 4 slots with mana prioritised just to sustain my skill. It's a part of the game, get used to it or choose a less mana hungry skill.

Right so did you miss the part where I imply that under current circumstances I made it work? I'm not bitching about the current state of the game. I don't need to "choose a less mana hungry skill."

This thread is not about build and gear comparison so whatever you need your Romira's power charges for, that's not my build. Incin does not crit (normally). So you're comparing apples to oranges right now.

The great news for you is that all that regen is going to become that much more important for you by the looks of 1.2 - to a point where even that may not be enough.

Didn't one of the announcements mentioned that costs of spells will drop? I don't see the issue here. It is also easier to stack mana reduction skills. It seems like you can get about 36% reduction fairly easily since the nodes are so close to each other.
It also seems like it is easier to get max mana, which will contribute to mana regen. But then again I am only looking at the top half or so of the nodes.

You'd be amazed at how big a difference a single drop of 1 mana from a skill's cost can be when it comes time to apply multipliers.

I just hope AA+MoM won't be affected too much. This combo is much needed after the huge CI buff I guess. We can't all be CI, there need to be viable alternatives.

Yeah I messed up, didn't look too hard at the gear I was linking. The point still stands that I even changed boots to the only ones with mana regen to assist. Not only that but looking at my tree I took every regen% node from Ranger to Witch, adding to a grand total of 80%. There is more %regen available on the tree than before and skills are getting a mana overhaul. Mana hasn't been nerfed, you just need to compensate with gear which in my opinion is not that hard.

It was way unplayable. Most mobs were doing way too much damage in endgame scenarios still, and killing players that even had Kaom's on.

What's the source on the 30% figure, exactly? Because it wasn't in the patch notes, and the limited testing I did indicated 10-15% damage differences.
If I tell you totems once were really powerful and had only a 150% multiplier and several skills were cheaper you will laugh.

You know that increased max mana increases your regen too right?
They buffed max mana nodes hard. There are plenty mana on kill too.
Hell, theres even a 2 mana on hit, which seems weak, but it isn't..for some builds.
