gcps are still valuable because of

1) rarity. they drop less than chaoses and unlike chaoses they arent easy to get. chaos recipe is one of the easiest in the game for an orb with that much map potential.

2) upgrade usefuleness. people with lvl 18-20 gems might not want to level them AGAIN for dozens of hours. theyd rather either buy a 20/20 gem OR if they have a bit of quality theyd use gcps to upgrade them. the problem of losing all the levels is pretty big when considering gem that scale extremely well in the 18-20 range (ie raise zombie)

of course, when making a new character, they are nearly useless in crafting.

so the price will drop, but I doubt theyd drop to 1 chaos, especially that fast. more like 2 chaos max imo. and in hardcore/onslaught it wont be as big of a drop, because lvl 20 gems arent easy to get there at all.

The people who think GCP will crash are overestimating the availability of lvl 20 gems and are underestimating the other factors that give GCP inherent value as currency. Incidentally it's worth noting that so far the people dumping GCP are still selling it for 4 chaos apiece.

Of course they are. It'll most likely drop to 1:3 chaos in a few days so they want to get as much bang for their buck. GCP prices aren't going up so there really isn't anything to lose by trading them off at the current ratio. If the price stays the same then just revert it back to GCPs.

^_~ I get gems from 1 to 17 in a single day.

That's why GCP price will drop alot.People can lvl gems 1-18/19 in just 1 day farming 70+ maps.
