Theorycrafting: Burning Bear Trap
Blackgleam. Can't use bow attacks for EE unless on weapon swap. Besides, errebodeh know you use a high %q Shock Nova totem for EE.
Nice theory crafting :) Devolving Wilds

" Well, storm bow would allow you to... but then you wouldn't have darkscorn. I theorycrafted a build similar to this a long time ago and never got around to trying it, my guess is/was it'd end up being more cumbersome than its worth :-/ |

Too bad you cant spread elemental equib using the bow on account of the blackgleam.
Oh unless above. Dernière édition par Scully#4203, le 3 août 2013 à 17:14:05

may i add hatred aura + cold to fire damage gem combo aswell?
it should add 834 - 1167 cold damage @ lvl 20 aura 600 - 840 extra fire damage @ lvl 20 cold to fire support Bear trap just got interesting :) |

We talked about this a while back -- before open beta actually. I think Byr ended up trying it out, but im not sure. You will get the most out of it using Hrimsorrow gloves, hatred, cold to fire gem, on top of blackgleam and added fire. You then scale the damage with fire damage % items and passives.
Its pretty cool, but as with most builds that rely primarily on traps -- its pretty clunky. Dernière édition par Krippers#4771, le 4 août 2013 à 06:16:10

i built something similar a while back, not using blackgleam though. i was running viperstrike and added fire prolif beartraps. went all in on crit aswell for massive beartrap crit burns, was pretty fun actually.

you could use EK as a backup attack tho, as it benefit from pretty much the same stuff bear trap does
nice build idea anyway Dogs Summoner - http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/885199

" ya ive thought about this exact build as well. you can attach remote mine to amplify the damage even further. ign = ultrahiangle

I came across this thread after doing a lot of testing, and while it is pre multitrap, I wanted to share a recent build exploiting some of the info in this thread:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jb9Jipf1krk Basically exploiting some expensive gear to make bear trap capable of proliferating both fire and shock at once. I am currently using Infernal Mantle, Voltaxic, and BlackGleam to make Physical -> Fire -> Chaos. Additionally, Sunblast to scale traps. Voltaxic Makes Chaos shock. Current Gear
Spoiler
Using Lightning trap as a shock base (yes I could use LA, I do not want to). Crit damage spell. Current damage numbers are: 2006-2808 Physical 3500-4900 Fire 1167-1633 Chaos 651% Crit Multiplier 26.1% Crit Chance I will be building around a combination of this, and EK traps (not shown) in my next build, wanted to share early. Enjoy! |

Multi-trap is not useful for this build in the same way Multi-projectiles is not useful for a burning fireball build. You want the biggest possible single source of fire since it determines the aoe burn damage for the whole group.
The cooldown going from 8s to 3s is all this build needed to be legit. The damage decrease hurts it at higher levels, but the cooldown decrease more than makes up for it. --- Regarding Infernal (+Voltaxic) over Cloak, the lack of burn% really hurts. I like the cool idea for proliferating shocks, though. Very clever. --- Regarding the earlier suggestion to use Hrimsorrow/Hatred and cold to fire, any amount of cold damage (even 25% left over from CtF of 25% conversion from Hrimsorrow) will make your crits completely ineffective. Shattering the corpse means you're not going to proliferate the burn. If you were in a high enough level area where you wouldn't one-hit an enemy with a Bear Trap crit (max players 75+ maps with defensive mods?), then I could see that being useful for greatly increasing final burn damage (well past 5stack EA -- it would actually be the highest single burn in the game). I do worry that giving up the defensive stats from gloves may be too much though, since the build already gives up defensive stats from a shield and very likely the chest as well.
