Tried the game again in SSF... NOPE! I'll try again in 0.5 to make sure it still sucks!

I agree, this is absolutely a skill issue.
i am not a good poe player by any means and i've never had this kind of trouble. if i can't take jamanra in my first go it's usually because i'm underleveled by time i get to him and just run the dreadnought again a couple times to gain some levels and then he's no problem.

kinda sounds like a skill issue tbh

I checked my build and it was correct

What does that mean? You checked on exile build checker dot com?

I checked a guide genius...

Maybe the guide is bad? It isn't an official document.

It sounds as though you believe no skill is required in this game. But skill helps. Someone recently posted a video of a character wearing *no gear* killing endgame bosses.

I leveled a build in 0.3.0 (Abyss) to 96 in SSF and at a certain stage, the rng is killing any fun.

- Due to completely arbitrary drop rates, certain items simply don't drop. What's really ridiculous about it: drop rates could be adapted for SSF, cause players are cut off from the normal market. But it seems not a single person at GGG considers that, rendering an interesting game mode useless.

- When playing SSF it becomes quite obvious that noone at GGG is playtesting SSF to get a build into high levels. I guess they do some staggered testing, but this doesn't show the amount of how much of a negative impact rng has for SSF.

- Crafting is in an insanely bad condition. When i reached level 96, it was only possible because of the Abyss league mechanic including Omen of Homogenization. Without this, crafting high tier items would not have been possible. I guess it's not possible to have fun in SSF right now after they destroyed the determinism given by the Omen. SSF must be full casino now, i don't know how this can be called fun in any way.

Project SSF dies with GGG's irrational obsession with rng. They refuse to give deterministic crafting tools, they refuse to let you have certain guaranteed drops for stuff needed to progress your build. This is just ridiculously destroying the great idea of SSF. And looking at the game direction i don't believe there is the will and competence to solve these issues.
The truth is in the middle. Progressing can feel extremely bad if you don't get lucky and have a good weapon. Even if your build by itself is good. And guess what - gambling is limited. This is why I suggest spending all your attempts on weapons, then rings and gloves, because these are the things that give the most damage.

You can't craft a good weapon when Omen of Homogenization are ripped off the game. The amount of Omens of Recombination you need to successfully combine items with the right affixes can not be obtained. The discussion around the items needed to craft useful weapons is theoretical only. If you are confronted with the reality of SSF by PLAYING it, you will realize PoE2 is not in the state to keep the self found aspects real.

And again: the game direction is not addressing ANY of these problems within that game mode. And by looking into PoE2's entire past, there seems to be no vision regarding SSF, nor any competence in adapting this game mode to make it fun.

Jamanra takes a little longer than other bosses, that's no secret, but 20 mins is fuckin' long. Also "skill issue" in this game means not just how much you know bosses and their patterns but also how much you know about gear and crafting. If you know which items to pick up and how to transform them from mediocre to very good with curremcy then you have zero problems even in SSF. My current SSF character is lvl 90 and a I did not encounter any gear problems so far (I even have better survivability and DPS than I had in trade lol).

The insinuation that you need to "know" how to make a good Act 2 weapon is hilarious, not gonna lie

That's part of SSF. You don't play that gamemode if you don't know what to do.
What on earth is this thread. Since I was one-shotting max tier pinnacle bosses after two weeks the last two leagues I decided to play SSF this time, to prolong the gearing process.

We're now about 4 weeks in and my experience is this. Since I never bought anything during the campaign in trade league either, it is no surprize that it was as easy as always to walk through the campaign in about 2 days. After that I essentially went directly to T15 maps, meaning I leveled my waystones as fast as possible. This week I killed T3 Xesht and King in the Mists. Obviously far from a one-shot, but not too hard either.

There is nothing wrong with SSF if you know what you're doing. You do need to farm certain materials much more deliberately to make crafting work though. I would recommend speccing into essences on the atlas and putting rituals on every map.

That being said, poe2 is a complicated game and just following a build guid probably won't work in SSF since those tend to be made for trade league. If you aren't a fairly hardcore player I would strongly suggest to let SSF be and just trade.
