Major Endgame Changes in Patch 0.3.1 for Path of Exile 2

What are scarabs? Are we in PoE1 territory now?
Please let us unlock a 4th tablet slot. Lock it behind Uber Arbiter, it would be perfect.
Let’s hope towers are used exclusively for Unique Tablets. This change seems like a huge nerf to those who know how to min/max their map waypoints.

I'm not because it literally isn't worth it. I have around 100% rarity and there's virtually no difference in the quantity and quality of loot between a 4-mod map and a 6-mod map. Whenever I use exalts to add 6 mods my number of exalts stays the same or goes down over the course of several maps and its not like I'm finding other currency to make up for it. The drop rate of divines, alterations, chaos, vaals, is pretty consistent.

Very interesting to see that towers are being kept, to me this implies an intent to add different mechanics to towers outside of "juicing". Maybe some kind of terraforming-type mechanic as suggested by Doryani, converting nodes in the radius into a desired biome/map class or some such thing?

That would be a nice idea! I kinda like doing towers personaly and would be nice if they keep a specificity without being obligatory for everyone to do them.

We'll know more soon i guess for 0.4.

Will Abyss overrun maps still appear on atlas or will they become a tablet?

Right now, I do a hard tower map, open all three slots for tablets,
And then do easier maps with lots of content.
With the new setup, it can't be done this way.
You have now made that increase of content = harder map.

We will see, BUT i don't see my self placing and clicking 3 tablets every map, unless they remain there until you remove or they wear all the uses ala scarabs.

Id just add a "Tower Waystone", that can be placed in any map of the player choice, allowing players to still explore and decide where to put their overlaps according to the rules you set, such as min map distance etc. Release the frustration of not being able to juice some of the unique maps correctly etc.

if You are going to remove the elites as objectives please please keep their map icon intact there, don't makes us randomly chase-search for them.

On the other hard reducing monster density sounds like a bad idea in general, as maps, already feel empty.
