What is a point of reflect damage?

I never got this monster's affix and why it is in arpgs.

To panish successive players who could manage to build high DPS? For what?

To make melee builds to suck even more than they do? To promote mindless remote builds like dual spork?

If both you and the monster have equal Reflect Damage quantities, can you both stand next to each other permanently giving and receiving damage until a paradox opens up and swallows your computer whole.

To make it so you can't mindlesly spam a single high damage skill for the whole game, but actually have to make tactical desicions on what skills to use from time to time.

The real challenge is when you get a pair of tank rares, one of wwho has ele reflect and other has physical reflect :)

I'm a bit slow, please explain how reflect damage means the game isn't balanced?

Without reflect damage there is absolutely no reason what so ever to take any survivability nodes, whichever build/itmes have the highest ranged dps automatically becomes the best build/items hands down, is that the kind of balance you're refering to?


I thought that balance meant that every choice you make in the game has consequences, including how much damage and survivability your character has.
