Can we haggle and whisper with the new asynchronous trade window?

Constant pandering to trade boys and they still complain. I'd rather have druid/templar/marauder than a useless feature.

One thing u mention repeatedly is that "negotiable price" right now is not working and somehow "uneffective".

Could u elaborate on that point, please?

Certainly. I have not used high trade, but I'll be happy to explain my view. :)

I have critism about the UX (note: user experience, not user interface) design for the price listing type, and the critism focuses from setting the price type to actually getting it. Part of why it hasn't worked is the humans natural tendency to forget and to be both lazy and effective. When players list their wares as fixed price, the item is listed among with items with a negotiable price. There's not enough incentivization for every buyer in low-mid tier transactions to respect the price listings, because there has been enough sellers and buyers for them. Many forgets or does not care about the price listing type, because there are possibly hundreds of items to list or to go through per league, so there is no desire to waste their own time with minute details. And because there has been enough players not respecting the listing type, and we should not expect everyone to do as told, it has degraded the general trust to the listing type, further worsening the issue of the problem. This is the train of thoughts I think is making the listing type uneffective in low-mid tier trades.

High tier trades has a lot smaller trader pool, where reputation and knowing trade etiquette does matter if a buyer wants to do businesses further. A single ban can effectively close you out from that special 3 synth item mirror trade in the future in the super high tier trade.

I want to clarify, as to my experience most of the time players buy without haggling regardless if the price was negotiable or not. It is more like the social norm to just buy the item listed in the trade site than to ask anything extra, but exceptions apply.

i'll play with DND on, my only gripe with trade in POE and POE2 was all the scammers, spammers and hagglers.

If i misprice an item on lower end i'll lose some currency, if I misprice on the higher end i'll just have my items not selling; its just perfect
Part of the problem with the negotiable price in the old system is that is super unclear which ones are negotiable from the trade site. The two terms it shows are too similar. As a result, in reality just about everything I'm selling is equally negotiable. Even if it's listed at a flat price if you're offering 90%+ of the asking price I'll probably take it, and if you offer 50%- I'll probably block you.

Their example didn't show an opportunity to haggle. I think I'll be alright with that for this system.
Persnally i understand your issue -but having a wisper for all items is no option for me cause i dont want to haggle for items at low value - but i also don't want to be the asshole and just ignore the guy who asks.

Maybe a solution for me would be setting a minimum value to make PM possible so i can filter out all those minor trades i do not really care about.
You can try haggling but don't be mad when someone else comes in and buys it outright lmao

Yeah that's exactly my stance on it.

I see, but I think the problem doesn't lie with haggling or how u list stuff. As u said urself, it's more an issue with the availability of items. Why would u haggle for a few exalts when u can find that many exalts by the time u would be done haggling. Just instant buy the more expensive one instead.

This behaviour wouldn't change if u could haggle with the new system. It's still the same overabundance of items. Everyone in low and mid tier would just insta buy instead of haggle.
Unless u're talking about an automated haggling system? Like the seller could set a hidden "minimum" price he would sell the item for and the customer would have to place their offer. If it's above the minimum it would be an instant sell aswell.
That could maybe work, but it's still kinda clunky for both seller and buyer I think.

I don't know how to fix ur issue with the new system. Btw. u're right that haggling is more a thing in smaller economies. It was very much a thing back when I played Hardcore trade. Don't know if it still is tho.

Most people just search for "exact price listings only", in fact it is so common that it is the default search setting.

This is incorrect, as there is no such option. The Sales Type option in the trade has "Buyout or Fixed Price", which in other words is "Negotiable or Exact Price".

"Buyout or Fixed Price" ≠ "Negotiable"
If you have a look, there are no negotiable trades under that header. "Fixed price" refers to individually priced items, and "buyout" refers to stacks. These are just the terms used by the game to define the different types of trades.

I don't really have anything else to add, I'll just reiterate that it would be essentially the same function available in your stash right now but with extra steps. You still have to go to the site, filter by the different method, whisper the person. You just have to teleport into their hideout to do it.

GGG said they are adding an in-game UI for merchant sales eventually. Maybe a better suggestion to fix your problem would be a trade UI in game for everything else while they are at it? Including a section with negotiable trades or an auction system?

+1

I don't need to sell stuff to progress, but I'm more than happy with different opportunities
I hope not.
IF people price more, then my stuff is worth more too, so it doesnt make a difference in that regard.
