The real problem of XP LOSS.

I'm not against XP loss however losing more XP than I can get from entire map after two deaths is absurd. Meanwhile we have FIVE portals (attempts) to complete the map.
It's taken me 2 weeks since ending campaign to get to 86. I've died countless times to one shots I couldnt's see coming.

At T12, you don't get enough resources to improve gear, add mods to maps, respec to try and get better, etc.

I can clear screens with 1 attack, got over 6kEHP, and it's getting harder and harder to justify the time spent here.

I enjoyed last season. I find this season just... frustrating, annoying, and to be fair, somewhat insulting to someone who's now raked in over 2300 hours.

And I'm sure some players don't have this experience. Good for them. But really, why're we doing this?

So I have posted this exact issue. I just dont get it, its my day off, and I would like to enjoy some Poe 2. I've died like 2 or 3 times today. It has not helped my enjoyment at all. Its really made me wonder if I have torrets, my neighbors probably do too,and also why I am cursing the names of Johnathan and Mark, and I have never met these people.

But you know, its the daily ritual of go purchase a omen of amelioration, and get back out there to grind it out.

And to those who say its a skill issue. Maybe so, but I dont get paid to be so good that I never die. Also, to the you dont have to reach 100 crowd. What else is the goal? Theres not much in the game to shoot for at this point. Its an outdated mechanic that adds no value in my opinion.

Lvl 94, at 63% to next level. And I shouldnt have to actually be age 94 before I hit this milestone. Im in my 30's if the joke didnt land.

That can be frustrating but your missing the point.
If your repeatedly dying then thats the game telling you that your character isnt ready for that content. Thats one of the functions of death penalties.
Its to force you to improve your character and/or skill level before you keep progressing.

The most obvious "goal" of the game is to beat the arbiter, seeing as its currently the last boss. You are ofc free to have whichever goal you want, I do find it abit ironic that people keep choosing having reaching level 100 as their goal even tho they dont enjoy it.
Its fine to have that as a goal, but its not a prerequisite of progressing in the game. You can do all content at 90 (and even earlier for some builds), secondly then you will just have to accept that its a long grind cause thats always been part of it, and if you dont enjoy that then your goal should be something else.

It is however a fair point that the time required to reach level 100 might be too long. But reducing the overall exp needed and removing exp penalty are two very different things that impact the game differently.

Ok

What this post has shown is:

1. Yes some people like being punched in the balls for pleasure (to each their own, no judgement here)

2. POE 1 players who play POE 2 seem to enjoy the exp loss (this seems like better the devil you know or stockholm syndrome)

GGG Easy fix just increase gains per mob and keep the exp loss both sides win.

The side that likes their balls swallon and smacked like a speed bag can continue.

The other side can lose the exp and instead of 50 maps at 97 to get the exp back can do it in 20 maps.

Think that covers the masochistic audience, and the normal this isnt real life let me not care about death group happy.

+10

-100, masochism has nothing to do with it, it's only what relaxation & participation trophy crowd likes to say

Ye its the same in the dark souls community.
Babies crying for their easymode campaign.
And as soon as someone disagrees with them its just "no your just pretending to like it to be cool".

Spoiled babies that expect to get a participation trophy for everything so they cant imagine someone else enjoying that something is challenging.

i figured the 'why are we doing this' week1 of 0.1 and concluded poe2 to be a trash game. but in 0.1, at least acquiring fancy items felt nice. you know, things like temporalis, dream fragments etc etc.

now with 0.2, they added pain, made items really boring, say i look at morior now and i just think, who gives a shit?

so if i dont care about rewards, and rewards aren't that important with the current meta... and game being slow, laggy.... and items that drop not having any intrinsic value... why the heck are we playing?

xp loss is the least of it. but people only focus on the direct pain.. because the progress is slow and unrewarding and worst yet boring. if at the end of the road they are rewarded with something.... i dont think they'd feel as bad as they do in this thread.

so really, why are we hitting mobs? i have no idea. ultimately, because there's no reward in sight, their focus turns onto the only positive they have left, their progress, in the form of 'xp'. it really shouldn't be seen this way. and for certain, it shouldnt be this way.

the vision needs to be laid to rest.
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`

Extra portals and exp loss go hand in hand. If they had kept the "one attempt only" promise, there would be a much stronger argument for removing the exp penalty, since failing the map would be a punishment in itself. But since everyone demanded more portals, now we're back at needing something to keep corpserunners in check.
I’m flipping tired of exp loss.
i’ve never reached lvl 100 and I don’t care about the xp loss
yes it sucks balls but only elite players should be able to get 100
some things to do are harder some are easier and you get rewarded for the difficulty
While people here fight if is okay to lose exp on death, there's other thread asking for a toggleable 0% exp gain to gain a +100% rarity extra.
I'm on both ships. LET THE PLAYER CHOOSE HOW TO PLAY
