I might have previously replied but I'm going to again.
Losing ANY amount of xp EARNED in previous maps is straight disrespectful of the players. The only reason for it is fluffing investors for more money. That's why most of these aggravating mechanisms exists. This game would be a 12/10 if GGG would stop being so GGGrreedy and make a good game for gamers instead of the profit incentives. |

" people have played with xp loss since d2, various different games. show me evidence of 0 players. you're a poe1 player are you not? after all these years you're still here. how about we just be more practical, especially now. they aren't removing xp loss this league, and not likely anytime soon if ever. so we need to be practical and play with what we got. so, show your build? you can report and ban me if i tease your build. i say it openly. this is something we can do now, and now. `Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL

" Actually, I don't play with exp loss. I completely go around it and ignore it by buying exp carries like 5-way legion rotas, or just doing Sanctum all day to level up because its safe and you can never die there. Then I get lvl100 and corpse-rush all I want into content. And I have fun doing it. I don't mind dying, the problem is that the game takes away the progress a player earned when they die lmao Its my exp and the game has absolutely no right to take it away. I don't care though, I'm happily gonna pay random people 20 divines to get me my levels by sitting afk in windowed mode 800x600 resolution, I'd pay them 100 divines just to go around exp loss. And don't worry, PoE 2 will eventually have OP exp rotas that everyone will do and sell, its only a matter of time. Why do you think Sekhema Trial carries are so popular? People don't wanna do cringe content, so they pay up X amount of exalts/divs and skip. Because ofc they do, who would waste their time doing something unfun? Also the "its always been there so we should put up with mediocrity and bad game design" argument is so pointless. Yeah lets just never innovate in any game then. Diablo 2 was never perfect, its a boring old game. Dernière édition par Toforto#2372, le 9 mai 2025 à 07:48:16

Build mechanics aside the disscussion is xp penalty upon death feeling too punishing for the average player. The "carrot on a stick" of xp makes many people play games, not just arpg games but ALL games these days. Call of duty, sports games, mobile games, action games, so many games have xp and levels these days. The reason being its engaging for the player so developers adopted it to all genres.
Leveling up is just like a meta progression in a rogue like game. If you unlock something like a new character or permanent upgrade, even if your run goes bad you have still progressed, thus you feel you've earned something for your time. Take that away and many people sour on a game. Imagine every time you died on a map you had a 5% chance for 1 piece of random gear to be deleted. Extreme and unfair right? Losing a week of xp would feel about the same. I could grind for a week and get myself a new pair of gloves but that doesnt take away the awful feeling of losing them in the first place. I should not be so brutally punished for playing even if I die. That does not mean I think the game shouldn't have 1 shots or should be easier, far from it. I just feel the penalty for death is too harsh and will only drive the non diehard player base away. Death in arpgs should have consequences else actual skill and expertise in the game doesnt matter. There should be an xp penalty or an xp debt type system definitely, its just currently it's too harsh and off putting. |

1. xp servicing is proof people can be so strong to carry an entire team for xp. the provider feels good hes that strong to be able to carry others. theres satisfaction. poe2 has untainted paradise / deli xp leech runs. but the real issue is xp gain is really too slow even if you dont die at all.
2. xp servicing is another market on its own that makes the game vibrant and interesting. same for trials. i like it when a game has various different jobs and service providers. providers also need to be strong, and rely on people crafting and farming good items in maps. there's a nice feedback loop here. one system helping another. 3. you can service in poe2 up to lvl96 and then just not care about dying and corpse rush all you want. you dont need those last few levels. as ive said before, people arbiter t5 at lvl93 and make insane divines from it. 4. sanctum trial is disliked by many people. but those who are fast at it enjoy it and enjoy the rewards. the fact its disliked is the reason it has value. in poe1, there are people who hate the traditional lab too. 5. d2 is a classic, even if outdated. but now, stop saying bad game design, its assertions coming from someone who dont like to play a difficult game. it doesnt respect peoples time indeed, but in many other ways than xp loss. the game is facing a lot of issues, even at week 1-2, and its surely not about xp loss at that point. people wanna continue grinding this boring game and because the rewards are so bad, and they still die, i think people are wrongly focusing the blame on xp loss. `Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
