The real problem of XP LOSS.

Umm. Ain't no one here doing that at all. It's the rules in game, we all live with. Sigh. This thread.

Yeah and we want it to change because its not fun. If a game "is what it is" then why does a feedback forum even exist? Why make any changes to the game at all ever?

If everyone followed that advice then nobody would ever complain and the game would never improve. There are no absolutes in any live-service game, it can always change for the community. Exp loss is just some outdated leftover mechanic from over 2 decades ago that should be forgotten forever lmao

the feedback forum exists so that our feedback can correct your sort of feedback.
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`

Nah, before 1.0 they'll change how exp works. Just like how they changed portals, just like how they gave people infinite retries on difficulty 0 pinnacles(or they plan to, I dunno I don't follow news about this game).

A feedback forum exists for people to let the devs know what's wrong with the game and to improve it, not for people to argue or whatever lol

Fact is, 99% of players hate exp loss and if they were given a switch in the options menu to turn it off they would.
how strange, not a single person i know has complained about xp loss. both in game and irl.

Welp, there's countless threads about it with hundreds of pages of comments. Since 0.1 came out. And even before that in PoE 1 too. So clearly a lot of people have a problem with exp loss, otherwise these threads wouldn't be popping up periodically would they.

This thread was never about dying in PoE 2, its about the consequences of death being way too severe in Softcore of all gamemodes. If all these players love risk and reward so much, they should all just go play HC instead of trying to force the 90% of the player population to play the way they want to and go through the same pain LMAO

You say it like losing 10% xp on SC is comparable to losing your whole char on HC. Though you all are welcome here, this is a really forced comparison LOL.

Nah I'm just saying its ridiculous to lose exp in Softcore which is supposed to be the easiest gamemode. Like exp loss doesn't exist in HC because char goes to standard sooo basically exp loss is there to punish people for choosing to play in Softcore? What kind of sense does that make.

Come on, this game is not that hard. A couple of things might still need some adjusts but this game is far easier than poe1 (at least poe from 3 years ago when I still played that).

The main problem for casuals, IMHO is that many people are already figuring out the game, so there are little fan-madecontent and good published builds out there. Thus, casuals just have problems to build a good char in the style they like.

Unless they increase difficult again, with due time, it will be just a joke seeing someone complaining about frequent deaths on maps in this game.

i can give you some currency if you want as respect. you've done a good job dealing with these people.

Nah if I start taking handouts now it will diminish my journey xD
But thanks. Yes its been quite an effort.

im not going to deny people feeling frustrated over xp loss.

im actually happy they are feeling that way. there will be two outcomes. 1) some overcome and learn 2) some quit. we are here to encourage people to pick 1) and assist in that path.

and if not, i rather they pick 2)

i wont debate why xp loss is necessary anymore. its been done far too many times in repetition so ill just say no.

No your rewarded by letting you keep your character.
Thats why its the "easiest" game mode and thats the difference from hardcore.

What are these pathetic excuses for trying to twist everything to something negative.

But this thread isn't about the difficulty of the game, or balance, or dying in the game. It's about what happens when you die that's the problem.

What people are saying is that losing exp on death is not fun. That's all. Like losing X amount of hours when you die at a high level is soul-crushing lol, that kind of experience should never ever exist on Softcore. Dying already loses you a portal, there's already lots of things you lose. No need for exp loss to exist.

I'm sure those people quitting is great for the game's profits and player retention lol

No, its not "necessary" to force everyone to play in a specific way. We can have everyone be happy and choose how to play if it was just optional. PoE 1 is all about player agency, and PoE 2 is nowhere near that yet. That's the problem. Just let people have their fun and you can leave your exp loss enabled if you think its so necessary.

And there's nothing to overcome here, exp loss is just a slap in the face. Its just bad game design. You don't "overcome" that. You ask for it to be improved.
