Just allow XP to be recovered by going back to where you died. I don't see how this isn't a good compromise. If you play a 1 portal map you accept the risk and it allows you to decide when to take that risk. You shouldn't be punished with hours of grinding with no way to recover if you die once every 10 to 15 maps, especially with the current game balance.

Better idea: just delete exp loss. Its bad game design. Exp loss getting removed would literally be only a net positive for the game and nothing of value would be lost, no downsides. This is an objective fact.

What would possibly be the point of that?
The reasons have been provided to you on several occasions but you refuse to take anything in and just live in an echo chamber where you know more then big game developers and that this mechanic exists in almost every game in existence for no reason at all other then to annoy you, just so you dont have to confront your own limitations. What more information could you possibly require at this point?

The game would be exactly the same if exp loss is removed. Nothing of value would be lost. It doesn't have it in the campaign, so it isn't that important of a "mechanic". Its just outdated game design from Diablo 2. But that game is ancient by now, no need for modern games to be held back and limited by such archaic game design.
Or just let people toggle it, then everyone can enjoy the game how they want. That's the best solution.
