i quit after 400 hours bacouse exp lose

I have to admit I was in the cry baby club and made a last effort last night because even with all my past bitching and moaning (still hate xp loss) I looked over my gear and build.

Swapped out my Body Armor for one with +275 stun threshold, got boots that had like another 200 threshold and sacrificed rarity on the boots. Refunded some passives to get my evasion up.

I didnt get stun locked in the 10 or so higher tier maps. I did die once because I did F up.

So I feel there may be some truth on the side that calls out for reviewing build.

Not saying I dont hate XP loss to stay on topic of this thread but it seems more mitigated. And in my use case I was running higher tier than previous juiced to only 1 or 2 portals.

Expedition mobs didnt just stunlock me like before, I saw the same effects that slammed me before, Rituals I didnt feel as stressed out.

It is your fault. Yours and there's a few more folk that are Pro gaslighters. All you do is assume that nobody knows how to play and assume this high and mighty position of superiority, as if only you are correct and there are no other options. Good that you admit it. Its the first step to get out of that ignorance bubble that has surrounded you folk.

Some people are way too mentally abused to see it as a problem. They see their time being disrespected by GGG as a honour and achievement.

They think there is no value in playing it if they are somehow not punished for mistakes regardless whether it's theirs or not.

Why not implement even more punishment by losing 1 currency per death? That will surely make it an even bigger achievement right? lmao, achievement!!!!!!
losing inventory items on death is a good idea. i support it.

Ok, so lets dial back the arguing and do something that's not done very often anymore. Agree to disagree and respect each others opinions.

Over the last week or so I've been doing some experimenting in the game and came to the conclusion that both sides of the argument are right on this.

Let me explain. I have 2 characters a LS amazon (dont judge it looked fun lol) and a Smith of Kitava. Both have a loot filter set up just for them set up via filterblade focusing on the armour types that as far as i can see would most benefit them. Evasion for LS and Armour for the Smith.

The LS amazon I would liken to a Mage on wow, a glass cannon. Move fast, think fast and hope not to die and get some damage in. Stats are as follows.. Lvl 82 armour 4% evasion 59% block 33% fire res 38% cold 4% Lightning 24% chaos 10%. Finding any meaningful upgrades to this char has been a real pain in the backside, I dont trade but I use the currency exchange. So kind of a softcore SSF I play POE1 the same way. Also this char has done the first 3 ascendancy trials). I know the issues btw no need to point them out lol

The Smith is a real beast of a build in comparison currently he's lvl 78 with armour at 69% evasion at 0% block at 71% fire at 80%(156%) cold 75%(193%) Lightning 75%(117%) and chaos at 15%. I've been getting decent upgrades for gear minus a weapon every few maps or so in stark contrast to my LS amazon. This char also has completed 3 ascendency trials.

So the conclusion I can draw from this is that from my experience its the loot that can be seen as part of the problem while the other part of things aren't quite tuned yet, too many one hit kills, too many deaths that leave you sitting there saying.. wait.. what just happened? how?

It feels like a huge punishment a) not being able to get the required gear to sort out the build a player wants to play cap off resistances, armour, evasion etc and then b) getting hit by a XP loss. Sometimes it feels like a chicken and the egg situation where to get the good gear you need the good gear with the stats on so you dont get one shot by a lack of stat or stats.

So what could be done?

Its my opinion that it could be fixed by having a in game wiki that has a tutorial function where if you start mapping and you die say twice in a map a window pops up and says something like.. you've died twice have you considered.... then list topics such as resistances, defensive layers and suggestions on how to fix your char so you die less. If this idea was fleshed out it would help players by having other in game mechanics to.

Second suggestion would be to take another look at what loot drops for who.. there's a good chance that my findings with my LS amazon could just be rotten luck and RNGesus not smiling on that char or there could be something to it.

Lastly, while the game is in early access with unbalanced mobs and other issues dial back the XP loss.

i dont expect people to know the exact solution to fix dying.
however i do expect people to learn overtime, like i did on how to fix dying
and i most certainly dont expect to have complete refusal to figuring out ways to fix dying.

and stop saying 10% xp loss is too much. its much less than that. you should have two omens active at all times, one for low hp, one for death.

Until things get fixed as early access progress's I think it would be a nice gesture to make things less frustrating.

I think that dying topic is one where it is hard for the opposite side to follow the argument because it seems so far off like a Vini jr. dive. To show my perspective as accurate as possible:
I play a 95 rake amazon that is played by 1÷ of amazon players, where again half of listed people just forgot to take gems out after going for LS. I have evasion, block and blind as defense layers and that means zero mitigation when I get hit as a melee. My lifepool is approx 2,6k (200 es) and gear is worth maybe 10 divines. I play delirium/breach or ritual/breach in every map and have all possible inc. effect nodes on the atlas. It happens that I die, maybe more often than I would like, maybe like once every 2-3 hours but I cannot remember one single random oneshot that I couldn't explain. That said I cannot follow that argument and don't expect the others to do so and at the same time the other side has to think that is exxagerated gaslighting. Maybe leave that out for the general discussion of xp loss,because in the end that should not be the argument that decides about the fall of that.
