1 is a tiny number, ergo "tier 1" is the Beginner stage

"t1 = nooby gear"

learn the max tier for the given affix you are interested in.

There is absolutely no reason to do that

When you come 10th in a race you can celebrate being the winner yourself. The rest of the world understands the difference between progression and placement.

Would you rather have Stage 1 or Stage 4 cancer?

Id rather have life without cancer. PoE2 could do with way less of it also.

Ok... yes I can do that, but why?

Wouldnt it just be easier to have tier 1 be the best tier?
Like op said no one cares or checks what the lowest tier is.
People care how far from the highest tier it is. So tier 1 being the highest is just automatically less confusing.

A secondary issue with this system comes when your using omen of whittling (there might be other examples aswell) where because of the tier system instead of removing the worst tier it removes the lowest level modifier. As in the modifier with the lowest required level to roll, which afaik u cant look up without going to crafofexile, which is another unecassery complication.

If it was 1 highest then it could just remove the affix with the highest tier number and it would be more obvious to everyone how it works.
