loosing exp

I can’t progress past level 91 and it’s incredibly frustrating. I spend hours grinding for minimal XP gains, only to randomly die and lose 10% of it. It’s maddening.

To all the hardcore players who say "Get better, your build isn’t good enough," here’s the reality: I have 100k base DPS (which can go up to 270k), all my resistances are capped, CI, 6k ES, and Grim Feast x2. So, seriously, spare me the advice.

It’s just not fun anymore. Every time this happens, I end up quitting. Even using waystones to farm maps feels like a chore instead of something enjoyable. Having to suffer every time I enter a map, yeah, that’s real fun, right? What a mess of game design this is!

Why can’t they introduce a SOFTCORE league where XP loss is removed? Dealing with this nonsense is exhausting.

I’m completely fed up with it.

The game is SO MUCH FUN when sheit like this happens!

Killed it, then it cheated and killed me with those fireball area things, when at 0 life

I also lost almost 60% XP that took me like 2 days to farm.

Seriously, I'm done with this effing game, this is why I quit PoE1, and I hope they keep loosing players to this and Tencent pulls all of the funding from the company.

60% exp lost? After the first death and penalty you thought, "hey, let's do this 5 more times", instead of "maybe I shouldn't be here yet".

Yeah right, because I was going to waste the 3 keys that took me like 2 weeks to farm... I got exited and jumped to the Arbiter, then killed me 5 times, 50% xp loss. That's so much fun...

That's a problem with the mentality.

IF you still want to attempt the fight on your own - you should be ok with the penalty on death.

IF you are not ok with the penalty on death - you get someone to kill the boss.

But not - I want everything and without a penalty.

Haha, seriously? You're solution to a game is let someone else play it or kill the boss for me?
Lol, that proves you have no idea what you're talking about, you're basically defending a bad game design decision.
If having fun in a game is not playing it or have someone else do the content for you, you have a big problem right there my friend.

If you are not SSF you could get a boss carry, so you get the rewards, but instead you wasted 50% of your experience and you did not get any rewards.

If you want to attempt something and realise it's too hard, but then you don't want to find another solution - that's on you. Nobody forced you to do that.
If you then attempt and got nothing positive (besides learning the fight perhaps) - don't blame the game.

Another one? You guys seriously play games like that? Are you the ones that watch people play games all day instead of trying them yourselves?

Darling, PoE is all around "choice".

YOU have the choice to try everything on your own.
YOU have the choice to prepare or "overprepare" before attempting something.
YOU have the choice to do something blind or with help.
YOU have the choice to take a risk or play the safe route.
YOU have the choice to accept a potential loss now for a gain later.

And no... it's not "bad game design" when YOU cannot do something.
And no again... I don't have fun when someone kills my boss and that's why I always do it on my own, but I don't blame the game or whatever when I miss out on loot when I should fail. It's *drumroll* my CHOICE.

I completely disagree. The real choice should be having different leagues. One for people who love the grind and punishment, like it is now, and then a Hardcore league for those who want that extra challenge. But there should also be a Softcore league for more casual players who aren't into overly frustrating mechanics. That way, people can actually choose the kind of experience they want, and those who just want to have fun without constantly being punished can enjoy the game too.
There is its called softcore.

Did you die at all doing the Citadels to get those keys? Where you dying in the maps to get to those Citadels? There were most likely several cues that you weren't ready for that fight, and you proceeded anyhow. Mistakes happen, especially when we get excited, but we can't go blaming everything but ourselves for them. If you had died and lost nothing, you'd have gained/learned nothing. Now that you've lost so much, you'll take a second to think next time. I am not trying to be insulting, just what I've also learned and it made my experience much better.

No, the Normal League is not Softcore. It has a bunch of punishing and frustrating penalties, like XP loss, losing waystones, respec costs that can quickly add up, and so on.

Softcore would be aimed more at casual players, with no XP loss, easier access to waystones, increased XP gains, no respec point costs, and so forth.
