I think there is a misunderstanding. I am not in favor of changing the game just for me or people like me though I believe there are quite a few. However I am an advocate for choices and I think a separate softcore league would be the best solution for both worlds.
Yes the economy could be an issue but that is one of the trade-offs of having such a league. If that turns out to be the case we can always play in the Standard League understanding the penalties and other challenges involved.
Ok.
So you want a Babycore league with less risks. No death penalties whatsoever, no respec cost, tuning down monsters, and so on. I can understand that, I'm not against it at all.
But that league has to come with less rewards. Like, only 1%-10% of what Softcore league actually gives you. Less drops, less XP, less rewards from any additionnal content, and so on.
Would you still play it ? Or would come after a few hours on the forums to complain about the rewards scarcity that doesn't respect your time ? I think the second.
The game already offers you the ability to adjust the difficulty of the content you engage with. If you don't want to die (and so to avoid death penalties entirely) you can already stick to T1-T5 content and still obtain rewards, according to the risk/rewards metric. Nobody is forcing you to play higher content except yourself. At some point, you gotta stop pushing and the frustration of dying will stop. If you want to become a formula 1 driver but you don't have the reflexes to do so, and everytime you go on the circuit you crash your car, you don't ask the race to be made slower to catter to you, you just stop driving formula 1 racing cars ; You can still drive nascar or something.
Unless you know, you feel entitled to reach higher content without putting the time or the effort to reach it, which is another subject.

Chris Wilson explained years ago why they have a system like the "EXP loss" in place and why they get more "risky/punishing" the higher/further you progress.
To some point, your progress is kinda easy and everything you do and get is a huge gain to your "character power". If you then reach the "breaking point" (with exp loss/levelling around 90) everything you "gain" is not mandatory anymore to clear the entire game, but is connected to a challenge IF you want to min/max.
Part of the frustration is that PoE loses any sense of progression almost entirely at a certain point, and it becomes quite boring, tedious, and frustrating when that occurs. The current state of exp loss then becomes a slap in the face when you spend hours grinding and sifting through thousands of drops that would otherwise be used in your build that at best you find one in 10,000 that represents a 1% power increase over the older gear. You lose out on at least something of actual, tangible progress with the current state of exp penalty. I would be in full support of an experience debt that caps at 20 or 25%, because at least a level is an actual progression point you can count on unlike this game's atrocious loot system.
"
So you are technically able as a "casual" (however you would define them) to clear most of the game with the progress you can make. Getting to 90, some decent items to farm higher tier maps and kill bosses is totally doable, BUT the hardest/highest content is something you only reach when you invest more than a "casual" would.
That's something ppl can dislike, but it's just how GGG wants to make this game. If you make everything accessible for "casuals" - everyone who is not a "casual" gets bored after day 2.
As mentioned, there are ways to make the penalty feel more fair and less straight kick in the teeth. There is nothing "casual" about a less punitive punishment system that still has meaningful death penalties. Besides, casuals are unlikely to go for Uber and highest end content, but they still want to enjoy the game no matter how far they decide to take it, and PoE's death penalties are incredibly anti-fun in their current state.
"
Like... have you played "Diablo 4"? Trivialising the game was so easy and doable so fast, I was actually impressed how "Blizzard" was able to develop such a nothing-burger of a game.
I honestly doubt I would get Diablo IV even if it was free on Epic because of how massive a failure Diablo III was in every conceivable way, so, no, I have not and don't ever plan to.

Say they do put a new "more-softcore" version in the the game. If the harder version has better drops and exp gain, which would you play? This is typically what happens when you have difficulty scaling as you are asking for. Would you be fine with less drops for no penalties, or would you expect everything to be the same minus the penalties?
Yes, same game, same difficultly, but no frustrating penalties, different league though. I think some players argue against a softcore league because they want everyone to play in the same league, so they can genuinely brag about being better. It’s an ego thing.
What would be so wrong with having a casual league for players who just want to experience the game without the frustrating penalties? I don’t get it.
You still have the same game in the Standard and Hardcore leagues, so you can still brag about being better there. Honestly, no one really cares though, while casual players can enjoy a more relaxed league with the same difficulty but without penalties and with easier, if you want to call them that, achievements
Color for emphasis. It's not like people are asking for the equivalent of an auto-parry in Sekiro or something, just for death penalties to not rob the fun from the game that clearly many of us genuinely enjoy. A Mediumcore league with current penalties and adjusted exp penalty with 6 portals in Softcore would be an excellent compromise, I should think.

No because that is not what I or the people who have been complaining want. We want the same game but with no XP loss no respec cost and similar changes in a separate league.
On the other hand what is wrong with having the same game without penalties if it is in a different league? If casual players get bored so be it you can still play in your regular or hardcore league. I do not understand why people make such a fuss about it. It clearly shows that it is affecting your ego lol.

That is all fine and well you can still have that in the current leagues. We just want a separate league with no penalties what is wrong with that?

There needs to be an element of risk to maps or you will just throw your body at it. I would much rather have EXP loss than, say, only one attempt at a map. Honestly, I like the rush of "holy crap I better not die" when I am close to a level.
Also, nitpicking but its a pet peeve... Losing does not have two O's.

Right. I guess you also want a paycheck without working.
Why would people actually working be upset by that ? I mean, they chose to work.
Why make a fuss, surely an ego problem.

For real, some people act like this design is sacrosanct & as if it's not part of a game for FUN.
Further - jobs generally don't make you start your whole shift again for a split second mistake, with no compensation. That would be closer to slavery in my view.
