The entitlement to think "Early Access" means that the devs need to develop the game to suit your needs.
self-awareness/10, your input in this discussion is just as (in)valid as everyone else's
Darling, it's not.
My "input" is not like "I feel like" or "REEE remove xp loss".
I tell you why the exp loss is a thing and why GGG wants it to stay.
It's not a topic GGG never thought and talked about, it's already "solved" and communicated.
The issue here is that players like you often fail to consider that a significant number of players do not want certain aspects of the game to remain as they are. The problem is that these players eventually leave due to XP loss and other frustrating and infuriating mechanics.
If you're okay with punishing and frustrating mechanics, that's fine, but the issue is that you don't seem to acknowledge a different point of view, which comes across as narrow-minded and selfish, in my opinion.
Many players have also suggested an alternative: add an extra Softcore League where these elements are excluded. This could include things like less XP loss, more XP gain, and no respec point restrictions, among other changes. This would likely satisfy both group of players. What's wrong with that?

If the exp loss punishment for dying at level 70 is the same as the punishment at level 95 - it stays linear and that's not what the game is about.
The higher you get, the harder it gets. The further you go, the greater the risk. It's that simple.
Only losing exp gained in that map, sure, it's effectively the same, but an experience debt with a cap of 20 or 25% would maintain the current sense of risk without completely negating all progress after a certain point, making it a fairer and less punitive system. Risk is still there regardless, dying is still undesirable. The only reason to maintain the current level of penalty comes off either as a sort of sadism, a sort of elitism, or flat out stubbornness to keep things the same just because "that's how it has been" which is never a good reason (and neither are the two others). It's also not like they can't simply reduce the exp loss penalty to 5%, either, as another possibility. There are options without eliminating the desired effect of risk of loss that are more tolerable and feel fairer.
Chris Wilson explained years ago why they have a system like the "EXP loss" in place and why they get more "risky/punishing" the higher/further you progress.
To some point, your progress is kinda easy and everything you do and get is a huge gain to your "character power". If you then reach the "breaking point" (with exp loss/levelling around 90) everything you "gain" is not mandatory anymore to clear the entire game, but is connected to a challenge IF you want to min/max.
So you are technically able as a "casual" (however you would define them) to clear most of the game with the progress you can make. Getting to 90, some decent items to farm higher tier maps and kill bosses is totally doable, BUT the hardest/highest content is something you only reach when you invest more than a "casual" would.
That's something ppl can dislike, but it's just how GGG wants to make this game. If you make everything accessible for "casuals" - everyone who is not a "casual" gets bored after day 2.
Like... have you played "Diablo 4"? Trivialising the game was so easy and doable so fast, I was actually impressed how "Blizzard" was able to develop such a nothing-burger of a game.
Fair point, but then again, what's wrong with having an extra Softcore League where casual players can enjoy the game without XP loss, with more XP gain, and free respec points, among other changes?
Players who want extra challenge or more achievements can continue to play on the Standard and Hardcore Leagues, and this way, everyone (or at least most) would be happy.

Say they do put a new "more-softcore" version in the the game. If the harder version has better drops and exp gain, which would you play? This is typically what happens when you have difficulty scaling as you are asking for. Would you be fine with less drops for no penalties, or would you expect everything to be the same minus the penalties?

Yes, same game, same difficultly, but no frustrating penalties, different league though. I think some players argue against a softcore league because they want everyone to play in the same league, so they can genuinely brag about being better. It’s an ego thing.
What would be so wrong with having a casual league for players who just want to experience the game without the frustrating penalties? I don’t get it.
You still have the same game in the Standard and Hardcore leagues, so you can still brag about being better there. Honestly, no one really cares though, while casual players can enjoy a more relaxed league with the same difficulty but without penalties and with easier, if you want to call them that, achievements

If GGG would release a "more softcore" league for ppl who want an easier version of the game - I don't mind. Let these players play there. But I don't agree with the demand to change to basic version of the game into an easier game, it's already easy enough.
But keep in mind. A "more softcore" league would have issues too, at least on trade.

It's not a ego thing though. It's an optimization thing. Players, despite wanting a challenge, would play the easier version because it's more optimal and there is no reward to the risk taken in the harder version. There are no games that offer what you ask for, and it's for a reason. Even in the most watered down ARPG, where players are given way to many difficulty options, the higher the difficulty the more the rewards.

I think there is a misunderstanding. I am not in favor of changing the game just for me or people like me though I believe there are quite a few. However I am an advocate for choices and I think a separate softcore league would be the best solution for both worlds.
Yes the economy could be an issue but that is one of the trade-offs of having such a league. If that turns out to be the case we can always play in the Standard League understanding the penalties and other challenges involved.

Fair. But don't know if GGG would offer something like that.

I know but I think a huge part of the player base has been asking for something like this for a long time. It would help prevent players from leaving out of frustration like before. I have friends who would definitely return to the game if this happened so it would be a big win for GGG to expand the player base while keeping both sides happy.
