One-attempt Maps are a massive middle finger, PLEASE change it

I agree with you a LOT.

As some people said, yes there is a risk versus rewards, but here, what you lose is too much of a price.

I will just give you an example: I have been chasing a citaedl for a couple hours, going all the way around, which is quite annoying already, and super time consuming.

Now, make me lose my map is fine, reset the portals if you want to, but here, I spent 2 hours going for this citadel, all gone is a split second. As the post says, it's just a middel finger to all the time invested.
Well no, its no risk, it just bullshit very often. Unless its fair risk and skill then ok.

But at current state there is no point for that. You go, you die and you still have to run same shit layout that you don't like and find all monsters in corners.

At least show monsters or something

Idk man, if you are at the point in game where something can kill you in a t15 map without you even knowing what it was then maybe your character isn't ready for this content difficulty yet? Maybe your build isn't properly put together if you can do t15 damagewise but your defense is so lacking to get randomly one-shot? (Which unironically is exactly what the mechanic is trying to tell you)

Also Omen of Resurgence helps a lot with getting one-shot.

There are far too many mechanics that do not respect the players time in POE2. Player retention is what will ultimately suffer if things do not change.

I like the one portal per map a lot more than the xp loss. With the xp loss, once you settle for a level (say you are 90 and you stop caring for leveling further) you just go over to the 6 portal defense. With one death per map you can't just die your way through the map, being an actual disincentive to glass cannon builds. If anything they should keep the one portal and get rid of the xp loss (which truly is nothing more than a time waster).


As I did with another response, I'm going to quote what already addresses this point, as it is anecdotal at best without numbers who uses glass cannon for what reason across either game.

Glass cannon builds capable of nuking the screen are already the meta, both in PoE1 and in PoE2. In fact, it could just as easily be argued that glass cannon/screen nuke build players are incentivized to play such builds more as a result of one-attempt. Knowing there's only one chance, the "path of least resistance" mindset leads to just killing everything on screen before it can threaten you. Without knowing precise numbers, it's only anecdotal that there would be any more or any fewer players "skipping" defenses. Besides, as anyone would quickly discover, you still need a viable minimum, so this isn't a strong point to favor punitive one-attempt.


It should be mentioned that such builds also have an easier time to build defences without sacrificing much of the cannon part. I sincerely doubt there are many people running around with 4k EHP as screen nuking ranged INT and DEX side classes. I can't say too much about Ranger, but I know there are plenty of sorcs with easily double or more of my warrior's EHP with at best comparable investment just Spark spamming their way to pinnacle for less effort and risk. If you're using all 6 portals and still can't reliably clear the content you're in, you are all glass and no cannon, because at least glass cannons can clear in one portal most of the time when played/built right. The wall headbutters strike me as a near certain small minority and are a poor reason to keep things 1 portal for all the reasons I mentioned. If you can come up with good points against my concise points for 6 portal to come back, I'll be happy to discuss them.
