I am done, giving Last Epoch a try for a bit. This is a rant !

I held out on trying Last Epoch and waited for POE2. I am an average gamer with average skills. I play for about 3 to 4 hours a day. I didn't think it was possible to make a game more tedious than POE1 but GGG you have succeeded.

I should get to decide when i want to face difficult content and when i should want to relax. Getting constantly blown up in maps that i am 8 to 10 levels above shouldn't be possible. I shouldn't have to focus that hard.

The end game mapping system is a giant wall of shit. I am forced to do boring towers to have any chance of advancing. Shit is strewn everywhere with 0 search functions. I get one chance to see extra content in a map or kill a boss and i get the finger if i die on top of it by losing experience. I wouldn't care about the exp loss if i could at least finish the fucking map content.

The crafting system shouldn't even be called a crafting system. At least in POE1, even though tedious and having to watch 100+ hours of You Tube videos you could learn how to actually craft decent gear. This gambling shit show your calling a crafting system is hands down the worst thing i have ever seen in a game.

To those who say "OH WAIT" don't you know this is early access. That is in the end is what pushed me over the edge. The only interaction we have gotten other than the crap patch 2+ weeks ago(which did next to nothing) is GGG's current statement of we are sorry we fucked you over POE1 players.

Early release should contain more direct interaction with the player base. I tried really hard to grind and i will check back in a few months to see whats up. I am going to give Last Epoch a shot. I understand its not as robust as POE1, but anything is better than this current shit show.

If you're looking to Last Epoch for a different experience, you'll be sorely disappointed.

- Their endgame is largely the same as PoE2's: you go through a series of "map nodes" to get rewards / path towards a boss fight, but if you die in the map, it wipes the rewards from the map. If you need to traverse the map because of pathing, you will not get any of the rewards, just like in PoE2.

- The class balance in the game, at least when I played it last year, was completely out of whack. Some classes, like Runemaster and Falconer, you could blast away easily with. Other classes, like the Forge Guard (which I played), are basically F-tier. The devs, in their infinite wisdom, decided to listen to the community and not make balance changes within a season, meaning if you chose an F-tier class, you basically wasted all your time.

(Also, the devs gave no indication how long seasons would last, so you had no idea how long to wait for any potential balancing that would be done. Apparently, it's been almost a year and they still haven't released Season 2.)

Shit, i missed the memo. Have a lvl 98 and lvl 97 550hrs. 500 outside campaign. And still having a blast dropping 15 plus div an hour.

The vast majority of people don't have no job/no life to have 550 hours in at this point. Most people get enjoyment out of games for the content, not farming currency just to afford inflated gear on the market thanks to RMT and bots.

I have a full time job, work for government utility.

The game came out on December 6, so it's been around for 57 days. If you truly have 550 hours of played time, that equates to 9.6 hours per day. 😅

It's funny. I would probably continue to play if they just made the crafting system feel like you had a real chance of getting upgrades and not just picking up every base and praying you have good luck. I don't play trade league BTW. I could probably deal with the horrible end game if i actually felt like i was having fun upgrading gear. Currently no part of the end game is fun for me.

yeah for real, they really need to fix this.

the mechanism here should be that we are target farming essences and omens which are providing the limited agency in crafting we need. but it isnt happening, essences are mechanically trash, greater essences and omens never drop.

this is an essential part of the game that needs to function and right now its a complete failure.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)
People take games to seriously.

I play a ton on the weekends. Had lots of time off over Xmas, and also have every other Monday off as an edo.

There's a video teaching how you can reach monoliths in 1.5 hours (around lvl 30) and you can start endgame mapping then and there. Later on you'll use a key to skip basically half the campaign.
Aside from the monolith mapping to drop the key, it takes you 2 hours in the campaign from lvl 1 to unlocking your last idol slots and getting your passive points.

PoE is the opposite: you chose a bad skill? Pray you can respec. You can't? Re-do 15 hours of campaign (was actually way less in PoE 1). Googling "poe league starter <patch number>" is a must in this game and that's actually pretty comical if you ask me.
---

PoE 2 actually made me go back to Last Epoch and made me want to try D4.

I have no clue about D4, but LE and PoE are games for different audiences. They're completely different starting all the way back to the dev's philosophies on how games should be and how much freedom of choies players should have in them.

PoE is for pseudo-gambling addicts and masochists with too much time to spare.

LE is for people just looking to chill while playing something with some action.

Of course, one audience is way easier to lure/monetize than the other, so it's pretty obvious which game is "winning"...

I love Last Epoch. Very fun game. Not as fancy as Poe2 obviously but highly recommend.

If you have 550 hours in less than 2 months, then all your free time is nothing but Poe and if you work then you definitely never get overtime. You're in the minority

Last Epoch has like 1000 people online, even weirdest fetishes on planet have more people involved than that.

How can you be so sure??
I've tried POE2 a few times now.

Just can't get excited about it...

Its just doesn't provide an appropriate entertainment value worth the time required.

Niche game at best.
