So, I just uninstalled PoE today.

I agree.. Speedmeta. But if you want ssf or melee build, kripp played melee build in synthesis and it was slow and..well much better than speed metas.

Posting 20usd for one mtx is ridicilous. Its more than okey if its beta, and if its small indie company, but now.. its just beyond greedy.

Pumping content too much? Well, its okay if you play standard - you get fleshed out league mechanics.
I dislike rarity so much im almost quitting poe2. GGG.
@Pangaerocks

Very good post.

As I posted before I've been here since 2013 and PoE has been pretty fun most of the time, not always but it scratched the ARPG itch more often than not. The last 3 leagues have been especially buggy at the start, but I have several other games I like just as well, if not more and that's where I go if I don't want to engage with the new league.

Games like Divinity Series, Rome 1, Mount&Blade Warband, Civ 4, Grim Dawn
especially for ARPG which I first tried last summer. Man,good gear actually drops, crafting is far better, 1 shots never seem unfair.

That brings me to your points 2 and 3, which has been discussed many times on these fora. Grim Dawn like D2 IIRC, you are penalized on death but if you can fight your way to your tombstone or corpse, you regain a fair potion of that experience.

At present in PoE the penalty is trivial at lower levels, but completely saps my motivation to play when 85+ especially with nonsense like freeze screens during incursions. This is not the only game I play, not even the most fun for me, but usually very good. I don't care about the Git Gud, buy better machine, smart ass remarks, which these forums have far, far more than the other games I mentioned.

There is competition and the fun factor is what counts.
I think it's time for me to do the same.
What game are you looking at? I installed d3 and grim dawn, any other good arpgs til next league?

>> #3 Don't do hard content. Obviously tied to the above point, but it's an important one. The consequence of the existence of the XP penalty (at least in its current harsh form) is that, if you want to progress, you cannot do the hard content. Especially when I get to around level 85-90, I will postpone doing the tough content, even map bosses sometimes, until I have levelled up. Obviously this makes for pretty damn boring gameplay. When I then level up, it's suddenly okay to take on tough stuff like a Delve boss, or Catarina (another complete feck-up by GGG's part), or T16 maps, or Elder, or Atziri, or the later Labyrinths, or Guardians. The most interesting content in the game is therefore practically locked away until it is "safe" to face it. If you die several times, you won't lose 50% XP or suchlike.

>> #4 RNG walls. GGG loves to gate their content behind RNG walls. Ideally multiple of them for the same content. No example is needed, we all know them. Seems like the central design philosophy of the game is the Russian matryoshka doll, the one with one doll inside another, inside another.

+1
Too much drama in that wall text for a simple and rightful decision.

Number 1: Play the speed meta or go home.

IIRC, Chris mentioned in Baeclast that they do intend to address this over the course of the next few leagues culminating in 4.0 where they hoped that loot drop and player clear speed would be less crazy than as is. I was inclined to believe that, then they released Synthesis, the league that benefits clear speed the most due to decay mechanics.

Number 2: Why bother with proper QA? As long as we keep pumping out new content as fast as possible, we can always draw in enough new players to compensate for the fact that almost all new material has not been adequately tested.

Absolutely agree with this. I really don't like that every league, the first few weeks always have some critical issues, technical or design wise. I want them to actually make PTR, let people test shit out before releasing. Not everyone has the patience to stay and play for weeks and months before you make the league 'good'.

Number 3: Ethical microtransactions were effective in the early days of fundraising for the game, but their time has passed.

They're blaming on the technology on unstackable fossils and resonators. Not sure if I buy it, but I do think it's something that will be fixed in future patch. Honestly, I'm sick of the same excuse of blaming on the tech, especially on things like auto-sort button. Games like Titan Quest and Grim Dawn have it, even one person indie game called Chronicon (great game btw) have it, yet PoE doesn't. No excuse not to have it.

You only have 3 major points, but I have the 4th one, maybe even 5th.

TRADE.

I'm really annoyed at the stubbornness GGG have with trading. Just let us trade currency, maps and fragments (stackable items) with more ease already. Keep other items as is, but it really sucks and is very annoying to trade for maps and currency.

League mechanics getting too big, too complicated, too distracting from mapping. This one is self-explanatory.
Been with PoE since beta 2012, and lately have the same feelings. I miss old PoE. The RPG feeling. Now it resembles a shooter-trading simulation more than anything.

The bugs are there en mass. Yes it started with Oriath and the map tab bug. And now it is real bad. Not thrilled about being eternal beta tester for GGG.

Stop releasing new content, have a legacy league and fix your bugs. PoE is great but now it is too much, overwhelming, splitting between Alva, Delve, maps, Lab, Syndicate, and now Synthesis.
Each one of those can be its own game. Cramming all of them together makes this too much, even for GGG as bugs show.

Actually its a good idea to replace Standard with a Legacy League in its eternal state. I think now it is the best decision.

Just let the Legacy be true Standard.
As it should be.
