Chris Wilson defends instant logout with all the wrong excuses

And this here folks is why both Boem and Snorkle are lying sacks of shit. Snorkle says he has killed Council and Shaper, has 14k+ hours of PoE, and is an amazing player in his own right and that he knows more than anyone else.

Except, according to the achievements list that doesn't lie, Snorkle has not killed Shaper or the Pale Council.

Which is exactly why you are the worst kind of fucking player. You pose, give out bad advice, think you are god's greatest gift, and then lie on top of that.

Achievements don't lie.

it maybe will help you to know (because surely by now you should be scratching your head and trying to put two and two together) that achievement list got redone during 3.0 release and a lot of those achievements were reset

'achievements dont lie'...lol...except when GGG does a 2.0 or 3.0, they do.

but the moral of the story you were so quick to accuse them of shit, its kinda hilariosu. you couldve at least googled it or something, its 2018. if you have a two-brim deerstalker you need to get rid of it, as mr holmes is rolling in his grave right about now.
its kind of sad rly. Theres a minimum of 2 lies in his post u quoted, one could argue between 3 and 4 lies, debatable.

shaper, all 5 breachlords and atziri down in the last couple of hours. I guess that means... something?

no?

no, not rly. I did get a hope and a sceptre from the 1 run tho, which was nice :D

surely the mark of a skilled player.

edit:

hope =

I got scammed.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

I'd be fine with leaving instant portals in the game, for the following reasons:

- While portalling out might save you, portalling back in might be just as dangerous if you left your portal in the middle of a large pack or similar.
you have a grace timer on portal just like when you insta logout, whats the difference ?

The difference is that portalling out and back in puts you in the exact same dangerous situation you portalled out of, whereas logging out and portalling back in will typically put you far away from the situation so you can approach it more carefully.

- Unlike a logout macro, a portal macro that both opens a portal and goes through it is illegal as it breaks the "one server action per button press" rule. A macro that only opens the portal is slightly more problematic, but still not as egregious as instant logging out.

portal opens right next to you. you can already simulate everything that logout macro does by choosing 'exit to character screen' button. its just logout macro is faster.

That's the entire point. Instant logout is faster and safer than any other alternative. That's what needs to change. Portals, quick as they may be, are not instant.

As for Helmann's vid: you do realize that this only works in the campaign, where you have unlimited portals into the same encounter. The limited number of portals into maps already solves this problem, so that's irrelevant.
when you instalogout, you also lose a portal. what is exactly your point ?

my point was that if insta-logouts are gone, this is what will take their place

Absolutely. And it will be an enormous improvement.
If instant logout-macro is allowed i would just wish for a way to bind portal scrolls to a key.

Would feel much more fine to use a mechanical in-game function that costs a resource naturally to flee instead of (ab-)using generic windows functions like Alt+F4 or even install some/any macro to accomplish an allowed action.

Creating a portal and then fleeing through it is even mechanically more difficult and fits the gmae than a logout-macro.
I agree.
I honestly don't understand where all this hate towards instant logouts is coming from.

Firstly, the game is designed around PvE, so the instant logout doesn't affect PvP and gives you an unfair advantage.
This might not be the case for racing (in HC)

I guess it can be meh if you really really dislike the instant logout stuff AND if you like competitive HC racing.

That being said, I'd say that this is not the case for the majority of players here. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If you are not into racing... just don't use this option? Problem solved, no?

Saying it's shit because I don't wanna use it but others can... well, should GGG rebalance all the chars now because some give you an edge and limit your build options if you want to be competitive?

Just something to think about.

And for the record, I still don't see how his points are NOT legit. Keep in mind that it's virtually impossible to keep every single dude out there happy.

I personally like the fact that you can log out to avoid hairy or potentially deadly situations. It has its own downsides, as in, you lose a portal for sure in maps (you could have survived if you played the mechanics) and in areas you lose a potential portal and have to start the area from the start or wp, so you lose time.

This is my very own personal opinion!
