Here's some history for you. God says (as far as you're concerned) that logging out is okay.

We want our fights to have large swings of damage and to cause a rush of adrenaline in the player. If the game didn't allow you to drop instantly then we'd have to dumb down the fights so much. We've tried it.

What I fail to see, is why allowing log-outs generates more "rush of adrenaline"? Doesn't it generate less? I am all for dangerous bosses, but I fail to see how this makes instant logout "fair". If you know the mechanics, have a good build and good gear, there are VERY few dangers that can kill you in this game, unless YOU screw up. And if YOU screw up in hardcore mode, you SHOULD be dead. That's the whole point of hardcore, isn't it?

Or else, "overtuning" the bosses, as some might call it, creates a very bad hardcore experience, as some deaths might seem VERY unfair. Making instant logout the "norm" is like begging for deaths that seems unfair.

The part you might have glanced over is that GGG wants you to die(or log out) regardless of preparation and skill.

It is a bit like dark souls in which you are expected to die but the difference is that enough skill and preparation will trump any encounter in dark souls where as any random mob on a hard map can one shot you in poe.

I went into a great deal of detail on this and I guess you didn't read what I wrote, discouraging. The bosses aren't overtuned, if you get them by themselves. In fewer words: they can become lethal when other random factors come into play. You have to have knowledge, awareness, and an ability to make rapid snap decisions. I prefer that immensely to the completely predictable rifts of diablo 3.

So do I. I love it. But I don't see how it justifies instant logouts. In my eyes, "you got to have knowledge" is also to know what you can and can't handle. And if you try to handle something you can't, you did screw up. In my eyes, being "too slow at DC'ing" has nothing to do as a "skill" in a video game. But I respect that we are different. The world would be a boring place if we all were alike.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

I played hardcore d2 for many years. I pressed alt-F4 once every few days on average. I cannot imagine an Action RPG design where it's blocked. We discussed this heavily when designing PoE. I'd love to find a solution (because I agree it's bad in principle), but being able to "Nope" out of situations drastically changes a lot about the game.

pretty much sums it up

its bad in principle but the alternative is worse

basically dumbing the game down to D3 levels
I dont see any any key!

Simple solution: In HC you can only logout in town.

Do you really care how other people play the game? If you hate logout macro in HC then don't use it. Also, from the look of all your characters, you don't even play HC so I don't understand why you're posting this.

The problem is that the game is fundamentally designed around people logging out instantly.

I guess this is why clearspeed/glass cannon meta will continue to reign supreme.

By design, being careful or playing cautiously is nothing that players should have to do....

Are there any monetary gains from posting pointless inflammatory "troll" posts which are sure to generate a lot of views/comments? Because this has been discussed to death and op knows it. Though he doesn't know how being able to instantly log out changes the hardcore experience :)

You need to go.

Logout macros are here to stay and I applaud GGG for taking actions to make their game challenging.
