Logout-macros, Logging out needs to go
" Right, because you can't possibly have adrenaline by not being a coward every time @#^& hits the fan. /s I have my fair share of deaths, but to tout "HARDCORE" and logging out at every sign of trouble is asinine. Heck, these days you're more "Hardcore" if you play SSF Softcore and delete characters after deaths of your own mistakes, to make sure you eliminate the so called "connectivity @#%^&*!~". The "Hardcore" league already makes you very specific in decisions, starting from the way that you build characters, and I think that we actually need more of that in Standard. Saying that you can't make the game challenging if you don't use "one shots" and heavily rely on "huge" damage spikes is lacklustre at best. They could do that and keep the spikes manageable, the problems would then be centered around multiple sources of said damage... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"... Maybe you want a much slower game, but then you might as well go play a MOBA. " D2 had many wrong features - such as instant logout, monsters with immunities, lack of balance, very small stash, too boring "grinding", dupe/bot problems, etc. Those mistakes were forgiveable for ARPG game made 15 years ago. But they arent forgiveable NOW, as players expect modern games to be better than their precedors. MOBA (like DoTA 2) is completely another genre. In MoBA, you level up and gear up your character from scratch every gaming session (which usually lasts 30-60 minutes). That not even apples and oranges comparison, but rather apples and cannonballs. also has any good ARPG ever had a "logout timer"? What is the point of ladders if cheaters will be always before normal players?

Anyway, if developers have no idea that make game harder without oneshots - it does not mean they must allow to you instant 'save my ass' function. Make 5 seconds timer, see how much people died, do something with balance. It's a hard way, but this is right way. Look at the content: Shaper have 5 attacks and only one real hardness - INSANE damage. Uber Atziri have only 6 (ro so, includes split phases) attacks and only one real hardenss - INSANE damage. Guardians have 4-6 attacks... and so on. New boses in beta... Yugul is apotheosis of GGG game development. E = mc^(OMG)/wtf

" As a HC player, I portal to town to save my ass, not alt-f4. I consider it almost the same and maybe even more reliable. If they put a 5 second timer on instant logout I would be fine with it, however, you know damn well someone will just come up with a 'kill switch' for their internet connection and use that instead. Thus forcing GGG to put a 5 second timer on drop connections as well... THIS would be unacceptable. I have a good cable connection and it resets randomly and is out about 10 min every week, if I'm in maps alone there is a damn good chance that sitting there for 5 seconds in the middle of a fight means I RIP. NO THANKS, I can RIP just fine on my own without extra random deaths because someone unplugged the modem, switch or a power outage. | |
" are you implying that there could not be a timer without a internet connection or are you saying that timer is necessary to assure that people die? Either way there's always multiplayer in games making the point irrelevant if you are saying one could just altf4 and lose progress but not die.
