Logout-macros, Logging out needs to go

It's just incredibly silly that it works, to simply instantly log out whenever it gets dangerous.

Hardcore in this game is a fakking joke.

Implement a 10 second delay, for your character to vanish when logging out, outside of towns/hideout.

It's there because GGG can design 'exciting' and 'challenging' game content which is there way of saying they can ignore game balance when it comes to how much damage monsters can do to players.

know what else is a joke? die to d/c and other ggg server laggs
Suggesting to remove instant logout in this "OMG HARDCORE, pLebs GTFO or l2p"-game will get you nowhere. Because, you know, logic.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Do you really care how other people play the game? If you hate logout macro in HC then don't use it. Also, from the look of all your characters, you don't even play HC so I don't understand why you're posting this.
its pathetic to use logout macro but its worse to complain about someone using it. I play hc to cause of the trill and the self challenge. I dont give a shit what others are doing.

I see a lot of rip videos and most of the time logout macro dosent help much. Infact some rips is due to trying to log out instead of moving out/potting etc.
Simple solution: In HC you can only logout in town.
Here's some history for you. God says (as far as you're concerned) that logging out is okay.

We want our fights to have large swings of damage and to cause a rush of adrenaline in the player. If the game didn't allow you to drop instantly then we'd have to dumb down the fights so much. We've tried it.

They're not ignoring balance; they don't want to trivialize tons of specific content. There's plenty of randomness in this game that you kind of have to leave out of consideration when tuning content difficulty, unless you want all the content to be generally super easy.

----
Before this line was all just history and facts, now I can editorialize.

It's not just the bosses, it's random additional content. Take Planus for example. His big attack is easy to dodge, and plenty of builds can just tank it - not all, but plenty. If you're an ES or evasion build trying to tank it might be a bad idea, but you have plenty of time to get out of the way.

His damage is probably tuned against some reference str-aligned character using endurance and armour, some reference dex-aligned character using arctic armour and evade, and some reference int-based character using ES as a defense. But, there's plenty of other randomness they can't account for in tuning content difficulty:
- Map mods, because you get to decide whether or not to fight the boss when mods aren't in your favor
- A rare with an aura pulling into the encounter
- Invasion bosses, Rogue exiles, or Beyond lieutenants spawning on the same screen with him
- Ghosts

If you want logout timers, first we'll have to see:
- Boss damage reduced significantly
- Ghosts de-tuned into just loot pinatas that add no extra difficulty to encounters
- Removal of all aura rares
- Unique mobs repelling each other somehow (can never get them simultaneously in the same place)
Chris doesn't want to do that, he prefers leaving instant logout in the game.

This being known, macros are legitimate tools. If you don't like how it makes the game feel, by all means boycott them and let GGG know how you feel. And this is why I support people like this OP being able to express their opinions, even if I do come in and provide the history behind it. But, don't look down on anyone for using them. This is a competitive game, after all.

At least in this game I'm not in some generic "tier 16 area" where nothing unpredictable at all can happen. That's your diablo 3 for you - nothing unpredictable can happen in rifts. Or was the point of reference TQ? Something else?

What I fail to see, is why allowing log-outs generates more "rush of adrenaline"? Doesn't it generate less? I am all for dangerous bosses, but I fail to see how this makes instant logout "fair". If you know the mechanics, have a good build and good gear, there are VERY few dangers that can kill you in this game, unless YOU screw up. And if YOU screw up in hardcore mode, you SHOULD be dead. That's the whole point of hardcore, isn't it?

Or else, "overtuning" the bosses, as some might call it, creates a very bad hardcore experience, as some deaths might seem VERY unfair. Making instant logout the "norm" is like begging for deaths that seems unfair.

Chris didn't say that. He was talking about large bursts of damage, not insta-logouts.
