Auto looting in a game like this will destroy the economy inflation wise. The game is designed around the fact that you can't currently auto loot currency. If they do impliment auto looting, GGG would need to nerf the everloving crap out of currency drop rates and that would only slow down the inflation, not control it.

What are you talking about? Almost every single modern arpg has this shit these days. Ever played titan quest? That was a perfect system for lazy fuckers like me. ^^

I'll admit to ignorance not having played titan quest. But you don't even need to have much experience with economics to know what my example is a pretty accurate analogy to PoE specifically.

My first questions in my head when you bring up Titan Quest (rhetorical, I can always look it up later) is things like "How vibrant and vital is the economy to gameplay versus PoE? Are there significant currency sinks (PoE clearly does not have efficient enough currency sinks to keep up with the number of players generating and hoarding currency)? And what purpose does the currency have outside of standard sinks that may be secondary passive sink systems?"

You can pretty easily compare the economy of PoE to early D3 related to how over abundant gold was, causing everything on the auction house to have massive price tags if they were worth a damn, and the only sinks in the game were too miniscule to matter at that time, so prices just kept rising to keep up with the amount of gold being generated in total by players. You would sell your item for x more gold because everybody who played in the last hour/day/week was now worth that much more passive gold and could technically pay that much more to get that item even if they didn't want to pay more because they were saving up for its original cost.

I'm not sure that I fully understand what you are saying. Are you saying auto loot for currency is a bad thing because people's lazyness to pick up currency is sort of a currency sink?

Don't ever do this, u guys are to lazy. If they do this the clearspeed meta will become even worse. If anything, they should start slowing the clear speed potential of some builds.

Pretty much. Wisdoms, portals, all the way up to like alts aren't honestly worth much, but if you allow auto pickup of even the smallest form (wisdoms) it can add up rapidly when taking into account all the players that are actively gathering those currencies.

Auto loot isn't implemented in PoE because because the opportunity cost analysis per person is a pseudo-currency sink. Like I was saying earlier, letting a bunch of lower currencies be ignored for the sake of running and triggering rng more often from kills becomes more profitable than taking the time to pick up each individual currency. You are missing out on those smaller currencies, but are still making plenty of currency by aiming for the higher stuff faster. With auto loot, you are then getting your cake, eating it too, and also getting an extra quarter to a third of another cake just because. Without auto loot and you decide to pick up every currency drop manually, you are just getting a different type of cake that took longer to bake but tastes a little better.

what's next an auto fighter? x'D

It's obvious. PoE 3.0 will have Fall of Oriath coupled with auto fighter = FOO Fighter... DOH!!!

But seriously having an auto currency pickup would be a very nice and simple QoL as long as there is a control for turning it on/off as desired. Same for gear. We set our loot filter as desired to only see what we want and then just run over it to pick it up. That would be a very nice QoL so we aren't seeing an important item that gets lost in a cluster fuck of trash when the Alt key is pressed.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Yeah, add autoloot. Let those braindead bots go with their 30 sec Strand clear meta because they don't have to stop to pickup things.
