watching Streamers do the Hardcore one-month, made me realize something

AltF4/logout exploiters are a minority of the HC population at large. It's very offensive to automatically lump other forumers in with such a population.

Additionally, the entire genesis of this thread was that someone who knows about the technique and has no compunction against using it, still RIP'd twice in the month race. So even those who do it sometimes can also not do it sometimes, because they accidentally slip into manmode.

It is a horrendous exaggeration to pretend HC characters don't ever die.

and if you AltF4/exploit in SC, it makes you the exact same thing in my book.
don't turn it into an "SC vs. HC" thing. my thread's title may be misleading, but I believe I made myself clear in the OP itself: both SC and HC are equivalent here. you should chicken-out in neither.

@Scrotie, it's a bit early to discuss the actual delay.
the primary thing I liked about your posts, is you understand the connection between GGG making one-shot mechanics, and people turning AlftF4 into a tactic. one which is apparently so fkn "valid", you are considered a "bad player" if you don't use it.

but will GGG necessarily turn back the clock on one-shots and other cheap player-kill mechanics, should they add a log-out delay? sadly, I wouldn't be so sure.

What makes PoE HC, HC-lite, is not 'AltF4', but the fact that it's not permadeath and you can (with official blessing) cross-trade your SC wealth into a HC league.

Especially cross trading is a much worse design offense, for a 'hardcore' game, than the ability to 'insta'-escape.

Temporary HC leaugues are for alt f4 pussies.Real men play Standard leaugue with mirrored and legacy gear,that's the real challenge!
Ffs,i would be a new player,i would conclude from reading threads like this on forums that Hardcore is easy,pussy mode and that softcore is real deal,way harder and the SC players are actually better than HC ones.LOL.

Not really true for temp leagues though, especially at the start. And almost all HC players play temp leagues.

There is so much hypocrisy in those 2 sentences as well as whole lot of contradiction, especially in the later sentence.

Where is the excitement from possible death any second if you know that you can always ALT+F4 and ensure your survival?

Next, I have read statements from Chris posted in this thread, which make me think about their game designs and the way they build in challenge into the game. One of the points he made is that existence of instant game closure allows them to keep fights challenge. Does that means that if I do not use ALT+F4, I'm at disadvantage? That certainly does not feel right.

I admit I only play SC and it get frustrating at 85+ to die. I dont play HC-style tanky character so when I overestimate my capabilities I usually do not have any chance to react before I'm dead so ALT+F4 is not an option for me anyway.

Cross trading is still officially allowed between the two temp. leagues. So in theory you could start in softcore temp., amass wealth and then trade it for HC progression.
