Well, GGG already added an inherited mechanic to dual wielding a while back that started to improve melee.


"Dual Wielding automatically grants 10% More Attack Speed, 20% More Attack Physical damage and 15% Block Chance."



Now we just a bit more buff for dual wielding's inherited mechanic, add one-hand melee weapon's inherited mechanic, add two-hand melee weapon's inherited mechanic.


As for the defensive portion, Energy Shield (just having 1 ES, you already gain the mechanic) already grants a 50% chance to avoid being stunned as long you have ES up. Evasion also gives a chance to avoid taking critical strikes from attacks. Armor is just......armor, so this one needs a unique inherited mechanic like the other two defense type. These inherited mechanics have been here for a while now, but this is something GGG can do to improve upon melee characters.




So the base is there to add unique aspects to melee, but it isn't implemented?

I say increase the dual wield block bonus, give melee kickass nodes in the mard\duelist areas and make armor not only reduce physical damage like to does not, but decrease a flat percentage of crit damage taken or something unique.

You don't have the prerogative to give entrance tickets to who is supposed to have a relevant opinion here and who is not.

The key thing you are missing is respect for those who don't choose your way.
For me, the game ends at ~90. I've seen and beaten all relevant content (I'm not getting to 90 by killing merci Piety), all that's left is to repeat it over and over again. And I don't want to. Diminishing returns, fuck it.
That doesn't make me a bad player, nor does it make you a good player (because you choose to do it). Your levels mean shit in this regard.

It's just different expectations.

I personally love the 3 difficulties. It's very rewarding to level up from 1 to 80, especially when you don't use a cheesy "levelling build", but do what you planned to do asap.
You experience a growth in power on every level up, on every quest reward. I love it.
Later on, basically all stays the same: "Oh, jump from 6158 to 6289 health." Cool story, bro. ;)

If you're not ready to die, don't play this mod.
Never understood how people insist on staying alive in HC.
Just do your best, and if you're still getting killed, try again... that's the point of it.
If the game had no ways to get you killed, why would you choose HC?

So ranged isn't fine but melee is? Perhaps you can see why people think its the other way around and that ranged is fine and melee needs looked at?


Either way it doesn't really matter, I don't want to have to bust out the beating dead horse gif. Very few creative ideas have came from this thread on "fixing" melee.

Melee is just not fine, at all. At least 2h melee.
Melee was fine, 2 years ago in the last ladders of closed beta, its been shit since open beta release compared to ranged because of no proper damage mitigation, they increased mob damage in OB by a stupid amount so going ranged was your best defense since nothing helped against the high damage mobs, melee gets fucked by everything unless you have really good gear (and even then you do a lot worse than any other type of char with mirrored gear)

Melee needs better damage mitigation, and even better actual damage, especially for 2h melee.

As some suggested, an offhand slot for 2hand weapon users would be a great start, along with nice melee + life/dmg mitigation/rez nodes

I know plently of people that still play melee because that is what they enjoy playing. Learn to live with the extra damage you have to mitigate or play ranged. No one really cares if 2 handed melee isn't that great right now, it wasn't and won't ever be FoTM.

A lot of people care. Scrub parade doesn't really reflect the severe issues melee, in fact, suffers from.
There must be reworks.

2h melee is the worse easy but now, what was once a rare top melee build 'kill first rather than be killed' in flicker strike basically got ripped to shreds and thrown in the trash for most due to melee crit nerfs... if I had more free time id create a lengthy topic for FS meleer who keeps getting fisted over and over.

Obviously the OP may not be the best at getting points across but anyone with half an unbiased brain cell and not a mouthpiece should know melee is complete shit still and arguably is much worse than pre 1.3
