Why go melee when ranged does everything better?
Damage mitigation:
Take damage for melee vs Don't take damage for ranged. Facetank vs kite. No additional defences for melee other than block with shield/dual wield (which was nerfed to the ground) Clear speed (damage output): Top 4 Fastest Gorge clears are all ranged builds. Flicker (dagger crit) comes 5th, melee sits on perhaps the slowest clear speeds ever. Glaciator (nerfed to the ground) reaches a solid 2:06 clear but is still far behind the fastest ST builds at 1:25. Other melee builds take up to 6 minutes to clear a gorge. Most of this falls on the fact that melee needs to walk up to monsters and kill them, while ranged can kill them where they are standing. Desync: Get stuck on rocks, doorways, ledge, chests, cliffs, arches, fences, gates, walls and can't do damage because you're melee. VS Shoot them from wherever because you're ranged. The list goes on and on The counterattck gems are the dumbest idea i've ever seen for PVE. (Fuck PVP, you need a strong core game first) So, what's the point of melee now? Why exactly are the counterattack gems dumb ideas for PvE? CwDT is at its core a countergem and it's become part of the defensive core of pretty much any build.

I am very disappointed with the counterattack gems, that does not bring any solution for the face to face extra danger the melee are taking on the first hit versus ranged.
