Buying a Laptop, Will PoE Run?

Bahahhaa at Shaders turned down reply, that shit cracked my ass off.

Anywho, thanks for the ideas xmvmx, but I'm going for a more ergonomic approach.
Also, I'd have to completely disagree with your statement that this is a "crap game", as it is on of my favorite games of all time. I love this game, and I think GGG is doing a damn fine job of polishing this free turd, thank you very much.

Alas,
Seeing as arguing over the quality of this game on its own website's forum seems redundant, lets get back to the matter at hand

To recap, you folks have convinced me to move on from a laptop to yet another desktop project.

I have spent the greater part of about 7 hours today researching the best starter options for a decent desktop that is upgradeable and also geared towards gaming, mainly in the dungeon crawling endeavor as I am an avid subscriber to said genre.

PLEASE NOTE: I am a 90% solo PoE player, and by the time I need a team to tackle maps with my build ideas, I will have saved up the money to probably upgrade said barebones PC to a decent rig that can handle some group stress

CONCLUSION:

I have worked myself down to a few options for a tower, and I'm posting a link below that leads to a tiger direct page that will show you said starter rig:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8548794&CatId=2627

For those of you that tend to have opinions on matters, please deliver them promptly as any advice or further criticism is useful in my PC shopping endeavors. Translation: post below if you've got a cheaper rig that'll show more titties

Cheers
The major problem I see with that rig is...

1) it uses an AMD GPU. AMD GPUs are known to not perform as well with Path of Exile as nvidia cards do. Yes you said you have a 9800 you can use, but you don't want to pay for that AMD card only to rip it out and put in a worse nvidia card

2) it uses an AMD CPU. As you can probably tell, i'm no longer a fan of AMD. I used to be an avid fan, but over the years they have let me down and disappointed me more times than I can count. I have NEVER had an issue with any of my Intel CPUs nor my Nvidia GPUs. I had constant problems with my AMD CPU and my ATI/AMD GPU.

They're a bit more expensive, but I personally believe they are worth the cost.

Wow, thank you so much for all the in depth responses everyone, I appreciate it!

So, it seems that I shouldn't get a laptop, and the more I think about it I should probably just go for a desktop. That seems like the best option!

Now, not to blow everything up here, but dare I ask what are my best options for a $500 budget as far as desktops go. Not that I can't shop myself or know what I'm looking for, just curious to see your opinions :)

Thanks again guys, your opinions and advice really does help!

Well, you don't need much money to play the latest games but here is what you should consider:

1.How long do I wanna use this pc before I upgrade parts of it? 1-2 years or 4-x years?
Since you don't have enough cash to buy something that will last 4 years, you should consider buying parts that let you upgrade your pc sometime later. If you buy a mainboard that has a cap on ram (like 4GB) then you wasted your money because you have to rebuy a new mainboard on top of getting more ram in the near future.

2.On what settings do I wanna play my games? (high or low graphics?)

Better graphics will cost ya but what really is important is performance. If you are always on the low end of things & you play the games at minimum requirements, then you are gonna have a hard time in multiplayer. The best thing you could do here is trying to be always in the middle of things, nobody needs high end graphics, they look pretty, but they serve no greater purpose. If I want to look at pretty things, I google emma watson & not pump all my money into hardware.

Don't really know what else to say but this guy here probably has it nailed down what you need to do before you consider anything else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wIoubswb9k
Drakier, I challenge you to.. a challenge!

If you can find me a desktop (just the tower with components, no keyboard mouse monitor etc) for under 600 with a 3.0 GHZ quadcore processor that rivals the specs above, I will consider it greatly as my next purchase. I will also give you the gift of thanks, along with my gratitude.
PS thank you lolibusxd for the advice and vid, watching now

I'm sorry, but I don't have the time to hunt for a PC for someone. No offense intended.

PC purchasing/upgrading can be hard... especially on a budget. I NEVER buy pre-built systems because they rarely have all the parts I want. I always piece my PCs together with spare parts I already have in addition to new parts I purchase. Then I can always swap pieces around for new systems, etc.

Start with a tower, add a PSU, then the motherboard and the rest of the parts. Since you have a useable GPU now, you can leave that out of the initial purchase if you want. You can usually find cheap cases at local PC shops (used PCs usually) and sometimes PSUs (although be careful with used PSUs as the quality and integrity can be questionable). One of my more bare-bones recent systems I was able to get a tower for like $25 and then I bought a GOOD PSU for it because I wanted it to last (it was a PCP&C brand). In total, the case cost me around $100.. but I could have gone cheaper had I got a more generic (crappy) PSU.

Scout prices for all the components on NewEgg and at local shops. This shouldn't be an overnight decision.. especially on that slim of a budget. Shop around, find deals, buy parts a piece at a time if you have to. It'll be worth it in the long-run to get an upgradeable PC that will last you more than a year.
About that tower thing you posted, it comes with Windows 8.

If I'm not mistaken, at some point microsoft said they were gonna drop windows 8 lol.

Yes... but that's what I currently run.

I have a Core2Duo E8500. It's outdated and needs an upgrade, but it works. Got it for cheap as well. It was an upgrade over my E6300 I had before.
