im not sure ure understanding OPs suggestion correctly: there are scenarios where u want to reach a certain final node through a different pathing than before, wanting to respec.

but u need to use more orbs of regrets, because the game wont let u confirm respec(and get the passive points) as long as the node isnt connected to ur starting point(so u have to respec more nodes, just to take them again after that).
OP just suggests to be able to use all points which are "on the fly" immediately, which is a good suggestion imo.

and i also consider it a bad game mechanic/bug because if it was intended they would just adjust orb of regret drop rates. like this it looks like it is unintended/looks technically bad

so i support ur main suggestion @ OP, but its not very important to change this. still shouldnt need a suggestion as i think GGG devs are aware of it, and i hope they prioritize other stuff which is more important for the game (like desynch, balancing, game experience for newbies)

alright didnt see the lower part in context, my bad. tried to explain what i thought u didnt get maybe. first statement was misleading for me

after reading more thoroughly:

IMO the benefits of this change or generally cheaper respeccing outweigh the drawbacks for the most part of the playerbase. droprates of other currency/uniques/items shouldnt be improved though thats a different story and i dont want an easier game, but more trial and error cant be bad imo.
suggestion also balances respec cost which is now randomly determined by which paths u want to respec
sorry no longer text, as said i dont see it as a major issue to discuss so much about. ggg will know what they wanna do

And worst change is putting almost all bosses in new version of maps into fucking small areas, where you can't kite well or dodge stuff. What a terrible idiot invented that I want say to him: dude flick you, seriously flick you very much.
I agree with the OP simply because in the current state, it is impossible to regret a node that is followed by a huge number of allocated nodes and no loops to access it (e.g. the first nodes allocated near the character start, for example). Unless you want to regret all your char which would be utterly stupid and expensive.

I have often deleted 80+ chars to rebuild them, because the cost of regrets would be incredibly high, although the new tree would require minor modifications.

There is surely a way to make reallocation better, and OP's proposition is the most natural one, although maybe not the only one.

I think we could also have a full respec option for, say, 40 regrets, so huge modifications would have a cap cost.
I agree with that. Respecing is too expensive.

I want it more difficult to change existing characters not easier.

There is no replayailbty or reason to ever reroll to experience content if you can 'D3 style' change your one and only character on a whim.

This is on of the FERATURES of PoE that I think makes it stand out.
stop over moderating that makes the official forums useless
