General Discussion - In two weeks PoE will have less STEAM players than at the end of last leagues - Forum

My stance has changed, please go to this topic: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/882271 ------------------------------------------------------- I do understand steam players are a fraction of total player base, BUT as long as the ratio between steam and non-steam clients does not change, the steam player numbers can be used to draw up this trend. EDIT: Seems that the non-steam and steam ratio does change. --------------- EDIT: A very interesting argument from reddit/user/oneofmanyjs " If you want these charts to be a meaningful representation of use / decline of use, you need to weight them with the steam global achievement ratios. As of right now, 37.5% of the playerbase that these charts are based on has killed merveil, and 13.5% has finished the game on normal difficulty on a non-hardcore league. Less than half have the achievement for killing brutus. The charts by themselves look dramatic, but are not representative of trends in people actually playing the game on their own, and seeing them presumed to be such is getting tiring. It's probably due to people getting owned in invasion and quitting because they cant handle it. edit: (like myself, keke) Oh, and for your information, not everyone uses steam. For sure some ppl is playing ros but i think the main reason it's because this mini exp had few issues that didn't make it shine as they were expecting "The exodus of humanity in search of a new home? I played Reaper of Souls (RoS) for the last 2 or so weeks. I believe many other PoE gamers also gave it a go. I'll start playing PoE again, as soon as I get the time. I can imagine a lot of players are in the same situation. Some might stay and play RoS, while some return. For me RoS does not have a lot to offer anymore. It was fun and all to play with some friends for the last weeks, but in my opinion PoE is overall the better game. A lot more people don't use Steam than those that do. Your graph means nothing except that there aren't as many Steam users playing. Eso launced, ros launched and darksouls 2 inc and other launches, these cause people to migrate from poe to other games, it happens with every friggin game why are you even surprised, specially when there are tons of new game releases... Many players are in RoS atm... But, they will come back because RoS is fun for 4 weeks, not more...:) But the mainproblem is PoE himself: - Desync - Lootsystem (sucks totaly) - Tradingsystem (sucks totaly) - Itemprices for good gear (thx to RMT) And at the final end: - doing the same over and over and over again when u reach high level...
