Sorry, is this game supposed to be like Diablo?

How about this part which you've left out?

Therefore, you logic simply doesn't apply, because if one can put aside 5+ ex for experience (maps) then he would have great-excellent gear for his build.

OP troll.
Posted once, making superficial comparisons, never built a character to test this game, then left. No followup post.

Commend Qarl on still being polite. I wanna punch this hipster through his lensless black plastic frame eyeglasses into his brain.
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!
Just to clarify, I use a temporary email adress when registering on new websites, this may cause confusion but it is necessary in order to keep my private email safe and clean from spam, as well as protecting the privacy of my main accounts.

With that being said, I have given path of exile another try, and in my previous post we talked about some of the crucial elements from diablo one that made the game so unique, such as the storywriting, atmosphere and background music, as well as the creativity in terms of characters in diablo 2.

I am going to follow that up with the loot system and the itemization from diablo 2 and compare it with that of path of exile. In diablo, when starting fresh on a new ladder system, chances are that by the end of the first act you might have found a unique item, either from andariel or from one of the unique monsters.

Once you get to act two, the chances of finding runes inceases, so you may be able to start creating basic runewords, such as rhyme or in some cases even insight for your mercenary, which makes the game much more exicting. Once you have completed normal difficulty, you should have found several uniques and made a couple of runewords.

In path of exile, I have played through normal and cruel difficulty, and the only unique item I found was a lifespring wand, which is a good find, but the rest of my uniques I had to trade with someone else to obtain, by paying with various orbs, which is anything but exciting.

In diablo 2 you have items such as Infinity that totally cracks up nearby monsters and allows you to spam chain lightning to stomp through both chaos sanctuary and worldstone keep, sure it may be a very expensive item, but once you have those runes as well as a four socketed etheral mercenary weapon, your character becomes incredibly powerful and that brings you uncompromised fun and excitement when magicfinding.

In path of exile you have these mediocre uniques and you would have to be lucky to find one of them, most likely you will have to purchase them with various orbs, and the only item I found that would increase magicfinding is a support gem that only gives you a small percentage magicfinding and you may only use it if it fits into the colors of your sockets on your items.

Lastly, regarding in depth game mechanics, it appears that some posters does not have the ability to tell the difference between in depth game mechanics and poor design decisions.

In diablo 2 you have a break point system that you must take into consideration when building your character. If you are building a lightning sorceress, and you are aiming for 12 casting frames per second when using lightning and chain lightning, you would need to have a minimum of 117% faster cast rate in total, so if you equip a item that increases your faster cast rate from 80% to 100%, nothing would change on your character, as you would still need the additional 17%% faster cast rate in order to hit the next breakpoint.

In path of exile you have skill gems that you have to level up in order to make them more powerful, and skill gems have various colors which means that they may or may not fit into the sockets on your items, this is not what is categorized as in depth game mechanics, but rather a stupid design choice that makes the game somewhat based on luck and randomness.

With that being said, I think the artstyle and graphics in path of exile is great, and it is great to see a game that is not bright and colorful like diablo 3, but no matter how many ideas that are being copied from diablo 2, the talent simply isn't there to make a game that comes close to diablo 1 and diablo 2.

I miss wrecking tinko92 in arguments :(

The talent exists in PoE for sure, the game literally cannot be a direct clone of D1\D2 for obvious reasons. The game design choices may be off-putting to some D2 fans in general, but it is the spiritual successor to D2. Saying "talent" isn't there or doesn't exists is just asinine.

This isn't D2, nor should it be, I know a lot of people enjoy that game for its builds, runes\runewords, set items, ect. But those have no place in PoE, instead we have links, gems, quality, currency\orbs instead of gold, ect.

2 different games, both great for the reasons they are so alike but different at the same time.

Remove MF from POE, make juiced map the new MF.
Wow, you seem to be having the exact opposite experience to mine. I love Diablo II, but uniques in that game dropped for me once in a blue moon, and the runes don't drop enough to trade them up into what I need. In Path, the skill gems are readily available (not to mention the fun, direct feedback of the constant DING of leveling gems!) and uniques practically rain from the sky for me. I think you may have just had bad luck, my friend.

...Also, are you aware of the existence not only of Chromatic Orbs, but of the vendor recipe that allows you to get them constantly? I get dozens of chromatics an hour just from regular play. I hope that helps you have more fun! And hey, try to make it to the endgame. Maps are a whooooooooole 'nother ballgame, and way more fun for me, personally, than D2's endgame ever was.

Forum post drop rates are too high; front page realestate is too expensive for casual thread-makers. GGG pls nerf.

And also please fix Fidelitas ^-^
